"The [debut] album's done and we've just inked a deal for Europe with Black Lodge. We're looking at a late August/early September release. We'll get back to you as soon as we know. But to satisfy your curiousity here's a few song titles: 'Coffins of the Unembalmed Dead', 'Reduced To Ashes', 'Christ All Fucking Mighty', 'A Morbid Mind' and 'Chopping Spree'.

"Not only have we finished the album but we also cut two tracks for a vinyl-only single which will be out in a matter of weeks. The songs are 'Death Breath' (from the album), [plus non-album cuts] 'Corpses of Death' (featuring Markus Karlsson of I QUIT on vocals) and 'Matricide'. So, if you will, prepare yourself for a totalitarian death metal attack!"

DEATH BREATH's current lineup is completed by guitarist/vocalist Robert Pehrsson (who plays in THE HELLACOPTERS guitarist Robert Dahlqvist's side project THUNDER EXPRESS) and bassist Mange Hedquist. Guest musicians on the album include vocalist Jörgen Sandström (who had previously fronted the Swedish death metallers GRAVE) and REPULSION vocalist/bassist Scott Carlson.

Speaking to Sweden's Close-Up magazine last fall, Andersson stated about the project, "I haven't written any lyrics yet, but the music is so old-school that people today wouldn't even get that it's old-school. It's more like [DEATH's legendary 1987 debut] 'Scream Bloody Gore'. It's nothing like [ENTOMBED's] 'Wolverine Blues'. That style has already been done so well. At the same time there's only one 'Scream Bloody Gore', so a couple of albums like that I could put together.

"After having read the book 'Choosing Death: The Improbable History of Death Metal and Grindcore' and getting a kick, I went out and bought a lot of records. It was so much fun reading the book; it brought back so many memories. I bought POSSESSED's 'Seven Churches' on CD."

De nieuwe plaat is uit; met het oude logo, maar gezien hun optreden op Kings of metal verwacht ik er niet veel van; van Death breath des te meer overigens

volgens mij speelt Nicke gitaar hier, erg jammer, vond hem de meest interessante deathmetal drummer. Als ie slechts gitaarspeelt dan zwakt m'n interesse voor het project behoorlijk af...

Founding NIHILIST Guitarist Passes Away - June 12, 2006

According to Tartarean Desire, former NIHILIST guitarist Leif "Leffe" Cuzner recently passed away in Montreal, Canada. Leif was one of the founding members of NIHILIST, the legendary Swedish death metal act he formed in 1987 together with Alex Hellid (ENTOMBED) and Nicke Andersson (THE HELLACOPTERS, ex-ENTOMBED). NIHILIST more or less evolved into ENTOMBED over time.

After parting ways with NIHILIST, Leif played with another Stockholm-based death metal act called RAPTURE until he moved to Canada in 1990. RAPTURE would later turn into LOBOTOMY.

Nicke Anderson vond ik altijd 1 van de smaakmakers van Entombed en zijn vertrek heb ik altijd als een aderlating beschouwd; ik hoop dat Death breath de oude Entombed magie kan laten herleven.

Vorige week al even van een torrent site geplukt.
Ik vind het wel een prettig plaatje.

Serpent Saints, The Ten Amendments is niet helemaal de plaat die ik had verwacht.... Het intro van The Dead, the Dying... lijkt rechtsreeks van dit nummer te komen: Just Another Victim - Helmet/House Of Pain, auw..

ik moet de plaat nog iets vaker luisteren...

Ik kan je de Nihilist cd aanraden; van begin tot eind klassiekers

Uiteraard ken ik die al Oude Zweedse death metal ben ik mee opgegroeid desijds, voor mij persoonlijk nog altijd de beste death metal

L.G. is geen beroerde tekstschrijver, maar dit is werkelijk geniaal.

Ik heb het nieuwe album net eens goed beluisterd. Nou ben ik zelf in het bezit van Clandestine, To Ride, Shoot Straight And Speak The Truth en Morning Star. Een beetje van het oude en een beetje van het nieuwe dus.

Maar naar mijn mening gaat Entombed op dit nieuwe album meer richting Clandestine en Wolverine bleus dan richting hun nieuwere werk. En dat is natuurlijk goed nieuws. Geen (of veel minder) rock 'n roll invloeden en weer gewoon death metal ram- en beukwerk. Ook hoor ik veel invloeden uit de thrash, de rauwe punk en de grindcore (ja ja, er staan zelfs wat blastbeats op dit nieuwe album).

Entombed heeft op dit album nog steeds hun typische, smerige groove maar men is ook bloed agressief aan het werk geslagen. Serpent saints is hard, rauw, smerig maar ook catchy.

Fucking gaaf album dus!

Wolverine blues was toch ook al nogal rock'n roll? Wat ik me er van kan herinneren?

En waarom koop je niet gewoon left hand path, zowoezo de beste entombed plaat imo, dát is de entombed deathmetal.
