From the Flanders arrive the Huldrefolk, proud spokesperson of their one "Medieval Trollish Pestkult" black metal.
Sincerely I do not hear this medieval touch in the music of the quintet, but for the remainder I can say that the definition there can be.
Covered of mud and with the garments torn actual like the troll, the Huldrefolk debut on the long distance with the album "Eeuwenhout" (released from the young label Italian Slavic Satan) about 40 minute d' resonant assault that puts in all obviousness the intention and the capacity of the band.
A naturalistic intro/tribal introduces us in the inhabited undergrowth from the Huldrefolk, and we come immediately swept via from "Gemene Gronden", wild opener, furious and tearing to the just point.
The impact is very powerful thanks to a production above the media, but to the same time necro and actual darkness for a choice of the sounds quite balanced between color and precision.
To before seen the Huldrefolk can seem of the simple pestatori, but continuing the listening of the album you will discover something of more.
The part extremist of the band comes capably balanced from parts plus lens but equally being able, sustained from the continuous riffing of the guitarists Leshyj and Waldschrat, that in some cases break incredibly the tension with of the clean break very hit, like for example in "Builen".
The music of the Huldrefolk is dark and violent, but also morbid and slimy, actual like the plague that quiet it is insinuated in the normality, carrying dead and despair.
And not at random in "Galgenlied" seems actual of vision the dead incappucciata that does its procession between the ruins of what was a calm citizen.
Hit the vocal test of Drang, in possession of an I wheeze hybrid that has the same touches of the other tools.
A good word also for the rhythmic section developed from the powerful Hammerman behind the skins (erred for the trigger of the box, that remembers too that of the Suffocation) and from Nekker to the low one, that is always a pleasure hear to lap certain riff with its attractive lower part rotten.
It is actual thanks to the rhythmic section attractive hybrid that the band, all thing' other that discounted above all when is itself at the presence of an album d' debut, it is found perfectly to its comfort is in the parts ultrafast, that in those swift until those cadenced.
We is not in front of nothing again, but I would dare to say for luck seen that the Huldrefolk do well their work, itself it it distinguishedly long the arc of all of the disk, until I do not succeed to indicarvi a song rather that another one: the pieces are well or badly short, run via easily and results difficult to untie them from the their context.
Although the simplicity of their proposal, I should admit that if after the first two listening I found the rather normal album, after the successive listening I changed entirely my thought, seen that the pieces contaminated myself insinuandomisi in the veins for my days ammorbare.
Compliments to the label to have tracked an excellent band and to the Huldrefolk to have released one of the better debut album until this point of 2007.

HULDREFOLK – Eeuwenhout
Slava Satan records – CD2007




“Medieval Trollish Pestkult” were the first words I read about the blackmetal formation Huldrefolk. “Trollish” is a word that makes me want to turn away and never look back, but there appears to be no reason for fear of overly happy folk tunes here.

Huldrefolk brings a dirty form of blackmetal that reminds you of creatures living in disease ridden swamps. After a clashing and dripping intro, the blasting of “Gemene Gronden” sets in, carrying the cutting riffs in its’ wake. “Builen” sets of with some pounding guitars, showing these guys clearly know their metal. The raging sharp edged storm of drums, guitars and Drang’s searing vocals make this no pleasure to those who like their sound polished only. The only resting point comes suddenly right in the middle with some quiet tunes and vanishes as abruptly as it came. The mid-tempo song “Galgenlied” is a serious headbanger, with a continuously almost commanding vocal line and the guitar amps audibly put to the test in the pounding of a marching rhythm. “Pest Alchemie” and “Gareel Der Volksellende” come as a battering assault with subtle yet sudden tempo changes and some well built melodic lines beneath all the hammering, reminding me of Dutch blackmetallers Cirith Gorgor. With “Rattekermis” things get hectic again as this the speed is taken to a higher level. The same could be said for “Honger Snood” but this one carries a mean rocking groove. With certainly the first part reminding me somewhat of German black/thrashers Desaster and even Bathory, the battle feel “Alkoholocaust” makes me want to go out on a drunken brawl. With “Eeuwenhout”, Huldrefolk goes out with some well thought shredding and attention for melodic structures before all fades into the same kind of vile sounds by which it was announced.

The production ‘Eeuwenhout’ is unpolished and has an organic feel about it. Everything sounds quite powerful were needed and you hear what you have to hear. The rasping vocals are well present but clearly behind the wall of sounds. It all suits the music well and adds to the filthy atmosphere this work seems to breathe.
For those who like seriously filthy but well played oldskool blackmetal, this one is highly recommended.

This is the Promo CD of came out from Belgium hordes. They was have an most dark and pure raw black metal touch. Huldrefolk means of hidden race. In Scandinavian mythology Huldrefolk are ugly nasty creatures who feast upon stolen children and spread fear upon the peasants. Their is a influenced by old Mayhem, Burzum, Nagaroth...in the Norwegian black metal vein. This CD will contain 12 fast and darkest raw tracks. The songs of cold rawest riffs, good rhythm change, strong and evil vocal, good drum work and some have a dark atmospheric sadness. (They call their own genre "Medieval Trollish Pestkult") I can say, is a good promo CD, may sound good. If you're into the like old Mayhem, Burzum, Nagaroth, Darkthrone, this stuff is for you!! Simply great!! 7/10

HULDREFOLK - Eeuwenhout


Die belgischen HULDREFOLK begannen ihr unheiliges Dasein als zweiköpfiges Pagan Metal Projekt im Jahre 2003. Doch schon nach kurzer Zeit stellten Drang und Leshyi fest, dass sie in ihnen das Bedürfnis nach weitaus dunkleren und böseren Dingen steckte. Die beiden behielten einige Pagan Elemente in ihrer Musik bei, konzentrierten sich jedoch darauf, rohen und ungeschliffenen Black Metal zu kreieren.
Der Name HULDREFOLK stammt aus der skandinavischen Mythologie und bezeichnet hässliche Kreaturen, die sich an gestohlenen Kindern gütlich tun. Mit dem Zugang von Schlagzeuger Hammerman und Gitarrist Waldschrat war das Line-Up komplett. Nach dem ersten Demo „Pest Alchemie“ nahmen HULDREFOLK Anfang 2007 ihr ersten Album „Eeuwenhout“ auf, welches vom italienischen Label Slava Satan Records veröffentlicht wurde.
Das Inferno wird eröffnet mit einem unheilvoll, sumpfigen Intro, bevor „Gemene Gronden“ in bester, klassisch skandinavischer Tradition lospeitscht. Deutlicher wird der Bezug zu den alten Meistern, wenn die melodischen Gitarren des folgenden Stücks „Builen“ ertönen. Doch HULDREFOLK kopieren nicht, sie verbinden vielmehr eigenständige Elemente, wozu beispielsweise der heisere Gesang und zahlreiche doomige Anteile („Galgenlied“) gezählt werden können, mit dem Geist des ursprünglichen Black Metal. Wem der Synthie-Black-Pop zum Halse heraushängt, der sollte HULDREFOLK ein Ohr leihen.
