We happily celebrate Trashfest's ninth birthday this year and it has grown into a monster! We've now come to the twelfth booming edition of the festival! We thought we couldn't match the international theme of the previous editions, but this year we'll top them all! We'll have eleven American, seven English, six German, two Australian, three Belgian, two Danish bands, one Swedish, one Spanish, one Japanese and one Brasilian band. Therefore the language spoken at Trashfest is very likely to be English.
Brutal Truth from the States is one of the big names. The band from New York recently got back together again and they're playing a few European festivals, among which, our very own Trashfest.
We also have a few bands from the the 'U, S and A' coming back to their home away from home, because they've played here before; for Tubers, Phoenix Bodies, Clorox Girls and Down to Nothing it's their second time on Trashfest. Of these four Phoenix Bodies we've had to miss the longest; 2002 was their first European Tour and this year they'll come for the second time together with Ed Gein. The last mentioned is band many people are looking forward to, it's brutal, uncompromising, in y'r face grindcore.

The legendary Japanese Framtid are going to burn the house down, they're touring with Seein' Red. The Reds have played Thrashfest five times before, one of which was a memorable Lärm reunion show. They definitely have the most Frequent Trasher Points.

The THrash (with a capital H) will be provided bij SSS from the UK, they're being flown-in for just one gig on the mainland. This band has got a CD and a 7" out on Dead and Gone Records and they consist of members from Walk the Plank. Also Sunpower will the deliver a good deal of da mighty Thrash. The Flemish combine Negative Approach elements with a high Jello Biafra kind of voice which makes for an interesting show.

The Punk (with a capital P) will, among others, be served bij Tubers, Environmental Youth Crunch, Clorox Girls and the Feelers. Short Bus Windowlickers also delivers good punk. With members from The Varukers in the formation, this is also one of the tens of explosive bands to look forward to on this festival.

Apart from bringing you sweets from all over the world and old hardcore grandfathers, we also stick closer to home by offering a stage to a variety of young, Dutch bands. One of those is Sand Creek Massacre from the town of Zwolle. They played their first gig in 2007 and the band consists of members from Jobcrusher and Civil War, add one and two and you have a band with potential. Another young band with potential is Citizens Patrol from the 'Southside' of the Low Lands. Formed when My Reply split up, they're also gaining ground in the Land of Hardcore with their fast, energtic thrashcore. Also be aware of Dr.Doom! With Seizure & Greyline members in the line up, playing fast grinding hardcore, you know this baby will be unstoppable.

Fortunately, we also reprazent da Local Northside with H-Town's own Hogtied. Rock and Sludge come to mind when you hear them. Kind of like Iron Monkey, but with more stoner influences. That's a welcome change of flavour and a worthy addition to the great four-day line-up.

Holland's legendary .Omission. will unfortunately play their last gig on Trashfest. The rocking handcore band also played the festival two years ago. They're calling it quits and their energetic farewell-show promises to be one of the highlights of the festival.

On the campsite we'll have a tent in which you can find all kinds of (a-)political and activist groups and movements presenting themselves. You'll find infostands there, participate in discussions, and trainings and workshops will also be held. That will take place at the end of the morning on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until the bands will start playing in the venue in the city; Het Podium.
We have invited these groups and movements because for us the DIY (Do It Yourself) mindset is interwoven with activism.

During the festival there will be a large animal rights stand and also groups like AFA (Anti-Fascist Action), ID-Nee (against Identification laws) and the Anarchist Black Cross (ABC) will make their views known through discussions and info-stands. When the complete programme is known, it will be published on the website.

Naast het feit dat de AFA soms wel redelijk gay bezig is wel een beetje een duffe reden om al die vette bands temissen mensen.
