Deze week nog 's wat Gorgoroth geluisterd. Viel mij op hoe mijn mening over deze band in de loop der jaren sterk veranderd is. Het Ghaal/King tijdperk doet mij eigenlijk niet zo veel meer, maar de platen sinds hun vertrek des meer. Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt klinkt nog gaver dan ik me herinnerde. Instinctus Bestialis idem, op de zang na dan. Onbegrijpelijk dat die Atterigner bij Triumfall gruwelijk goed klinkt en juist op deze plaat een soort anonieme deathcore strot opzet. Nooit begrepen. Maar die muziek! Meesterlijk! When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself. |

Om de ene of andere reden nooit echt goed beluisterd. Net als Carpathian Forest en Taake ... viel er altijd wat vantussen. Dus, waar moet ik beginnen met GGR? signature |

Ik zou het chronologisch aanpakken. Beginnen bij "Pentagram" (of de "A Sorcery Written in Blood" demo als je echt trve ende kvlt wil doen), dan "Antichrist" en "Under the Sign of Hell". Vanaf "Destroyer" gaat het helemaal de andere kant uit en dat voor een jaar of tien. Al vermoed ik dat jij ook met die platen uit de voeten kan. When did I realize I was God? Ja, muzikaal is het echt terug naar de oude stijl. Voorzien van een beter geluid en op de laatste jammer genoeg een beetje storende zang. Maar als je het vroege werk kon waarderen, zul je ook wel plezier beleven aan die laatste platen denk ik. When did I realize I was God? Ik zeg "Under The Sign Of Hell" en met "Incipit Satan" doet het hier ook nog prima. Live optredens met Hoest waren ook goed te doen trouwens. an evil incarnation of DEATH! |
