Sedert een paar maanden is het nieuwste album van Mystery uit, genaamd 'Beneath The Veil Of Winter's Face', een album die je kunt scharen onder de noemer 'prog/sympho rock/metal'.

Bovenstaande plaat verdient de predikaat 'klassieker' zondermeer, een absolute wereldplaat. Muzikaal steekt het geweldig in elkaar, niks op aan te merken, maar de grootste troef is toch wel zanger Benoit David die nieuw is. Benoit David weet een schat aan emotie in zijn stem te leggen, zijn zang doet me veel aan wijlen Freddie Mercury denken, wat voor mij persoonlijk het nog beter op maakt.

Beste nummers van de plaat zijn Travel To The Night, het titelnummer, The Third Dream, The Sailor And The Mermaid, het lange epische The Awakening en afsluiter The Preacher's Fall.

De enige punten van kritiek op het nieuwe album van Mystery is niet op muzikaal gebied, maar heeft alleen betrekking op de tracklist. The Preacher's Fall valt als up-tempo nummer niet alleen qua lading uit de toon vergeleken met de rest van de plaat, maar voornamelijk qua plaatsing op het album. Dit nummer had als tweede nummer op het album moeten staan en The Awakening als de terechte afsluiter. Nu komt The Preacher's Fall over als een bonus track. Dat is jammer, dat verdient het nummer totaal niet, omdat het een fantastisch nummer is.

Om het verhaaltje toch positief af te sluiten is Beneath The Veil Of Winter's Face een album die gewoon tot de tien beste platen van dit jaar behoort.
