UNEXPECT originating from Montréal, Canada is a metal laboratory mixing elements of black, death, core, symphonic, progressive and melodic metal; classical, operatic, medieval, goth, electro, ambient, psychotic, noise and circus music with an occasional jazzy touch. The septet includes a violin, keyboards/sampling, a singing contemporary dancer, a 9 stringed bass, 2 guitarists/singers and a drum. The vocal performance of the two singers range from one extreme to the other as they alternate between glorious choirs; inhuman screams of deep, high, mid-growl and delirious intensity; theatrical narrations; and clean/sober sections strewn with a female singer who's angelic voice could melt the will of the most vile politician. Prepare for a massive dose of weirdness and organized chaos.

Unexpect is now more ready than ever to take on the road again and again to send you all to the nearest mental hospital… all for the pleasure of music of course…

The French collective known as Sebkha Chott were formed in 2000 by two students with a desire to produce original music. The concept expanded, as did the line-up, with a debut album, DeL'Existence De la Mythologie Chottienne en 7 Cycles being released in 2003. Three years later, the 48-track Nagah Mahdi... is unleashed. The group (now consisting of 8 members) themselves define their music as 'Mekanik Metal Disco' and is an amalgam of just about most musical categories one can think of. A highly theatrical band they add a bit of irreverence and drama to their music that recalls of Zappa but there are strong elements of Magma, jazz, technical death metal, cabaret, electronica . A bit weird but extremely compelling and very original. The music stops and starts and changes directions constantly - from genre to genre - somehow it all makes sense.

If Zappa taken to the extreme and mixed with Mr Bungle, bossa nova, a smidgeon of funk and everything in-between grabs your fancy then take a dive into the world of Sebkha Chott.
