19 juli @ Baroeg: Pentagram (Chili) Pentacle (NL) ----------------------------------- Chile's PENTAGRAM reunites one last time for Chilean and European tours! The legendary Chilean death/thrash metal band PENTAGRAM will reunite one last time in 2009 for a Chilean tour and several shows in Europe. The line-up will consist of the three original members Anton Reisenegger (guitar/vocals, also in CRIMINAL), Juan Pablo Uribe (guitar) and Eduardo Topelberg (drums). Replacing original bassist Alfredo Peña, who committed suicide in 1990, will be Juan Francisco Cueto (ex-CRIMINAL) for the Chilean dates and Daniel Biggin (CRIMINAL) for the European trek. The confirmed dates are: 12 June – Chile – Rancagua – Golden Active 13 June – Chile – Valparaíso – El Huevo 14 June – Chile – Santiago – Teatro Caupolicán 19 June – Chile – Antofagasta – Rock & Soccer 20 June – Chile – Concepción – Havana Club 15 July – Spain – Irún – Sala Tunk 17 July – Germany – Pößneck – Hell's Pleasure Festival 18 July – Germany – Oberhausen – Helvete 19 July – Netherlands – Rotterdam – De Baroeg (+ Pentacle!) 21 July – United Kingdom – London – Underworld 25 July – Norway – Oslo – Betong 31 July – Germany – Wacken – Wacken Open Air http://myspace.com/pentagramchileofficial If there's a band that deserves to be called “legendary”, that band has to be Chile's PENTAGRAM. With only two demos of three songs each, which both date as far back as 1987, as their entire studio output, the name PENTAGRAM has nevertheless persisted in time as one of the originators of what is known today as DEATH METAL. Hailed as a major influence by such genre heavyweights as Napalm Death, Entombed, At the Gates and Dismember, PENTAGRAM's premature demise prevented the band to follow the path that led their contemporaries Sepultura to the top of the metal world. However, their legacy has been kept alive and their songs have been covered by bands such as Spain's Avulsed, Chile's Torturer, The Netherlands' Pentacle and, most notably, the UK's Napalm Death. Since their mythical concerts at Gimnasio Manuel Plaza in their home town of Santiago, at the dawn of the South American extreme metal movement, PENTAGRAM had only reunited once in 2001 for a show at Teatro Providencia, also in Santiago, which was filmed and recorded and later released on CD and VHS video. In 2008 Germany's Cyclone Empire Records re-issued the band's cult demos in a deluxe edition that also included the 2001 reunion show and archive material from the 80s on a bonus DVD. A reference point for a whole generation of fans and beyond the confines of the metal scene, PENTAGRAM was voted into the 50 most important records in the history of Chilean rock music by fellow musicians in the Chilean edition of Rolling Stone magazine. This will be the very last chance for all metal fans to witness what is undoubtedly Chile's most influential metal band of all time. Chile's PENTAGRAM were just named BAND OF THE WEEK on the official DARKTHRONE MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/officialdarkthrone Says Fenriz: “this one is for those who KNOW, i grew up with their 7" from late 80s, and it's one of the best metal recordings i have. both demos (1987?) are equally good, rather fantastically great if you ask me.” PENTAGRAM will reunite one last time in 2009 for a Chilean tour and several shows in Europe.
