Start the Riot! De uitvinders van de 'Digital Hardcore' komen naar Patronaat! Atari Teenage Riot heeft zich met hun nieuwe album “Is this Hyperreal?" opnieuw uitgevonden en zijn weer helemaal bestand tegen de 21e eeuw!

Na het overlijden van MC Carl Crack in 2001 werd de kans op een reünie wel erg klein, maar frontman Alec Empire pikte onlangs de zwarte vlag weer op met aantal goed ontvangen live shows en na 12 jaar ook weer een album release. En in die twaalf jaar lijkt er weinig veranderd. Nog steeds brullen ze messcherp politiek getinte teksten op loodzware technobeats met scheurende gitaren. Met een wereldwijd tourschema voor de boeg komt Atari Teenage Riot, naast optredens in de legendarische club Tresor in Berlijn, ook naar digital hardcore city Haarlem om de kleine zaal af te breken. Bereid je dus zowel geestelijk als lichamelijk voor, want zeker in combinatie met Meldy Peaches en Ramm in het voorprogramma gaat het serieus vlammen en stuiteren worden.

Dit is een projectje waar ik met veel plezier aan gewerkt heb. Het is de release van en dj set die ik terug vond op mijn harddrive. De set is opgenomen op Traces of Rhythm in 2005, een van de eerste grote breakcore events in NL. Bulkrate delivers four tracks recorded at an occult ritual from the future, held in an overgrown area where only the drums remind us of the abandoned factory it once was. While his alienating rhythms are ever present, they are more like a minimal undercurrent to which bodies may move, submissive to and tortured by the ancient powers summoned by his chants.

Capslock's tracks are more driven by rogue technological forces, being played somewhere in a vast city under a poisoned silver sky. Over-amplified sounds that young girls with cyborg-like implants dance to. Rhythmically, almost mechanically, entertaining themselves while they scan through the attracted observers for their next victim.
