EARTHLESS is an instrumental psychedelic rock band from San Diego, California consisting of guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, bassist Mike Eginton, and drummer Mario Rubalcaba. The band formed in 2001 and released their first album Sonic Prayer through Gravity Records in 2005. A 10" single entitled Sonic Prayer Jam was released the same year on the San Diego label Gravity Records. Their second album Rhythms from a Cosmic Sky was released in 2007 through Tee Pee Records. In 2008 they released a split single with WITCH through Volcom Entertainment and the live album Live at Roadburn through Tee Pee.

How to even begin with describing their sound? It's equal parts HAWKWIND, BLUE CHEER, ZZ TOP, PINK FAERIES and every Jap and Kraut Rock freak-out you can think of. In other words it's just mind meltingly awesome!

Drummer Mario Rubalcaba used to play in bands like HOT SNAKES, ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, BLACK HEART PROCESSION & PINBACK.



The band was THE highlight of Roadburn 2008!

PONTIAK dilivered one of the most ambitious and iconoclastic rock records of the year with their 3rd full length on Thrills Jockey records.

Even when PONTIAK are demolishing, abbreviating, or stretching structures, they maintain an allegiance to song.
