IBEX THRONE was formed in the summer of 1997. The original members were many, but slowly over the years due to former vocalist Weston Madsen's suicide, and some members parting ways with the band due to various differences, Ibex Throne was reduced down to its true form and the songwriting process for the Transcend The Darkness demo began at the beginning of 1998 with the lineup of Azelcraz Witchborn, Lord Dying, Judas D. Arawn, and Mictlan. Transcend The Darkness was released that summer and was sold out by the end of the season. Due to a lack of funds (Black Metal was never meant to serve as a money machine) the Transcend The Darkness demo was never repressed and the band decided to focus on newer material. Hence, that fall 4 new songs were written which were to be featured in the D.E.A.D. mini-lp. Unfortunately, in the October of that year all of the Ibex Lord's equipment was stolen from their place of rehearsal. That set-back made progress a lot slower, but luckily the band was able to conjure up new equipment and could start focusing on perfecting their live performance and creating new material. In April of 1999 IBEX THRONE played their first official live gig at the Ichabob's bar located at 666 S. State St. in Salt Lake City. They were received well, and the last remaining copies of the Transcend The Darkness demo were sold out. And thus it was decided that the time had come to return to the studio and finally record D.E.A.D., and it was completed after 6 months in the studio in September. The result is darker and much faster than previous material, and D.E.A.D. truly proves to be IBEX THRONE's finest hour to date. At the beginning of 1999 Desecrator, an old friend and brother of Mictlan, joined the IBEX THRONE horde to take over bass responsibilities. Now a deadly 5 piece entity, IBEX THRONE have found their most productive line-up thus far. In the year of 2000 IBEX THRONE was asked to perform at the 3rd annual Sacrifice of the Nazarene Child festival along with Thornspawn, Black Witchery, Kathonik, Sadistic Intent, Blood Storm, The Chasm and Krieg. In response to this invitation IBEX THRONE re-released both their demos on one CD collection and began to write many new hymns of crushing darkness. It was decided to honour the fest by writing a battle hymn entitled "Gathering For the Sacrifice" to be played exclusivly at the fest and never again performed live. In 2001 Ibex Throne recorded a debut LP and some songs for a split with CRAFT from Sweden. The music is evolving into a darkened noise that only the true spirits of darkness can understand! 2001 also saw the joining of IBEX THRONE as one of the Drakkar Productions roster as well, which only can solidify their impact they will have on the underground for time to come. Also many other labels have finally stepped forward such as Inner Evil Records (JAP), Goat Warrior Productions (CAN), Elegy Records (US), and Satans Millenium Recs. (HOL) to collaborate with IBEX THRONE on unholy masterpieces of evil further proving that IBEX THRONE are not only a US band but a band that will deeply have an impact on many other lands as well! IBEX THRONE has many other plans that span 2 more full length albums to be released in the coming years, along with many other unholy plans for mankind. Time will only tell......
We can only hope that IBEX THRONE goes on for many years and keep making dark and ugly sinister music to crush the feeble masses and weak minded scum who devour any dream of a true and honourable underground true black and death metal scene. Creating their black art and fighting everything that Christianity and the Mormon faith represent, IBEX THRONE are the first and most successful in the Salt Lake Black Metal scene; but now other hordes have risen so it can only get darker from now on! IBEX THRONE is proud to be a part of the United States Black Metal scene and a part of the Infernal Legions! Together we shall all unite to crush the weak poser faggots who desecrate true underground metal, and last but not least, we shall crush the mercyful Jehovah and all of his brain-dead followers!
