Asphixa is a technical blackened death metal band from belgium. They tend to break musical boundries by combining different genres into one new genre reaching from classical melodies too crushing death metal. As time goes by, new songs are getting together and we're hoping to write a full length demo somewhere in 2010.
Asphixa wasn't always like it is now. Tim Alaerts started Asphixa as a melodic death metal band. A few gigs were played. They had enough songs to record a demo but due to problems between members this never happened. Asphixa started to fall apart.
Tim, Jesse and Jan maintained the band, but didn't know what to do with it. After a while Simon Duson (Prematory) recommended Matthias as a second guitarist. At first he wasn't interested, but eventually he played at a rehearsal and he reconsidered his decision. While still looking for a singer, Asphixa started writing songs, less melodic, more complex.
Simon helped us out temporarily by singing at a few rehearsals and writing some lyrics, but he left the band because of his own band. We have been without a singer till now. After a while jesse left the band and shortly there after we decided to let jelle go aswell. Matthias decided to do vocals for the band. After contacting Jens cautereels, the band had once again a bassplayer.
