Pentagram (AKA Mezarkabul) from Turkey for the first time in the Netherlands, at Melkweg, Amsterdam

On December 23, a long-established metal band, Pentagram (aka Mezarkabul) from Turkey, will be playing for the first time in the Netherlands, at Melkweg, Amsterdam as a part of their European tour.

Since Pentagram has a history of more than 30 years, they have had different periods and members, first shaped by thrash sound of 80s, and later influenced by more Anatolian, sometimes psychedelic sound. The band played with some big bands at international festivals, sang both in Turkish and English and have recently played the acoustic versions of their songs in an album, combining their different periods with most of their members and contributor friends. However, what makes the upcoming show at Melkweg interesting is that there will be 4 vocalists, showing their different styles, times and possibilities for the band, which might be a very unique experience, not only in terms of the international curiosity it might evoke, but also for the members themselves to look at themselves and each other in the mirror of music history, with its sweat and blood.

It might be interesting to experience this event at a time in which bands with a background from Turkey are gaining a special momentum in the west, despite the political hardships the country has been facing for a while.

Na meer dan 30 jaar optreden en 9 albums later komt de legendarische Turkse metal band Pentagram voor het eerst naar Nederland! Deze thrash-metal band uit Turkije heeft een aardig reputatie opgebouwd onder de naam Pentagram in hun eigen land en als Mezarkabul in buitenland. Ze zijn uniek omdat ze Anatolische invloeden, zoals psychedelische progressieve rock, in hun muziek verwerken.

Verwacht zowel Engelstalige als Turkse hit songs zoals: “Rotten Dogs”, “Wasteland”, “Powerstage”, “Sonsuz”, “Bir”, “Geçmişin Yükü” of “Şeytan Bunun Neresinde”. De band stond naast bands als Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, Guns N’ Roses en Rammstein op internationale festivals en podia.

Ik had dat nog niet meegekregen. Gelijk maar een kaartje gehaald. Ik wil die gasten wel eens live zien.

Even kijken of ik er tijd en geld overheb maar wil ze al jaren zien.
