Phil Anselmo Pays Tribute To Anal Cunt On New EP



Phil Anselmo has teamed up with Detroit based punk band Child Bite to release the ‘Morbid Hits’ EP, a lovingly crafted tribute to grindcore hell raisers Anal Cunt.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise, really. Anselmo showed up on Anal Cunt’s ’95 record ’40 More Reasons To Hate Us’, barking along during songs like ‘Steroids Guy’ and ‘Van Full Of Retards’, and playing guitar during the most sarcastic cover of Manowar’s ‘Gloves of Metal’ ever recorded. The band’s infamous frontman Seth Putnam even contributed some larynx scrapingly nasty shrieks as backing vocals on Pantera’s penultimate album, ‘The Great Southern Trendkill’.

Now, as a tribute to the late Putnam, Anselmo has enlisted the help of Detroit’s surreal punk quartet Child Bite to cover five of his favourite A.C. tunes. The EP is strictly limited to 500 copies via Anselmo’s own Housecore Records, and features covers of such anti-classics as ‘Siege’, ‘Morrissey’, ‘Chump Change’, ‘Radio Hit’ and ‘Song #5′.
