Vind hem beter klinken dan het nieuwe album.
Was het een andere zanger destijds?

Ja, was een andere zanger, die is er later uitgestapt omdat ie geen zin meer had om te touren. Vind die oude zanger eigenlijk wel beter dan de nieuwe.

Ik zit nog in twijfel welk van beide albums ik nu beter vind. Scepter... heeft meer afwisseling in songwriting en sound, Symbols.. heeft een lekker compact geluid en ook erg sterk geschreven songs.

Ik heb ze afgelopen zaterdag in Dynamo voor t eerst live gezien en ik was aangenaam verrast ! Goede band !

PSYCROPTIC: New Album Title, Artwork Revealed - July 15, 2008

Tasmanian tech-death masters PSYCROPTIC have set "Ob(Servant)" as the title of their fourth album, due in the fall via the group's new label, Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Symbols of Failure" was mixed and mastered by former MACHINE HEAD and SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader (DIVINE HERESY, GOJIRA) and was recorded once again by guitarist Joe Haley.

Commented drummer Dave Haley: "'Ob(Servant)' is definitely our finest hour (well, finest 49 minutes and 49 seconds anyway). It's, of course, a cliché of every band to say that their newest album is their best and so on, but we are very proud of what we have done on this album.

"The writing process was a little different for this album, with Joe writing pretty much all the material. This gives the album a very coheisive and flowing feel, and this album is definitely our most diverse material thus far. The artwork is also amazing, having been completed by Raymand Swanland (DEEDS OF FLESH). Those not familiar with his work should check it out — you will be amazed!"

He continued: "[The new CD is] a mixture of everything we have done, as well as adding in new elements to continue the progression we are on as a band. No point releasing the same album twice, right? Like 'Symbols of Failure', Joe engineered the album, but this time we enlisted the help of metal guru Logan Mader to mix and master the album...and that was probably the best decision we have ever made. The album sounds huge! Since we are currently on the amazing Summer Slaughter tour in the U.S. at the moment, we had been receiving mixes while on the road. After our L.A. show, Logan took myself and Joe to his Dirty Icon studio and put the finishing touches on the mix. Huge is one word for the sound he achieved."

In regards to the band's current U.S. dates as part of the annual Summer Slaughter package with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and KATAKLYSM, Dave stated, "Tonight marks Jason's [Peppiatt, vocals] final U.S. show of the tour — as he will fly home tommorow to meet the latest addition to the PSYCROPTIC family, his first-born daughter Audrey. Congratulations to Jason and girlfriend Kate on this special occasion. Jason will be back in action in August with PSYCROPTIC. For the remaining shows on the tour, Tony (from UNMERCIFUL) will be helping us out on vocals. We are sure U.S. audiences will welcome Tony as warmly as they have welcomed us for the previous dates on the tour, which has been by far the best tour PSYCROPTIC has been a part of! We will return to the U.S. a LOT more after this tour, that is for sure."

4 nieuwe nummertjes. Zoals ze zelf al zeggen, het is iets minder technisch geworden in de zin van opbouw/structuur, ze gebruiken iets minder riffs dan voorheen. Gelukkig kunnen zij dat wel hebben, en het resultaat (die 4 nummers dan) is dan ook best wel goed vind ik.

En waar mag dat nou weer op slaan?

Lionheart weet heel veel over andere mensen/

Ik vond de vorige 2 platen heel erg goed, maar de nieuwe valt me een beetje tegen eigenlijk. Het klinkt meer als hetzelfde, de plaat duurt me te lang en er zitten niet genoeg memorabele riffs en songs in. Op dit moment kan ik alleen van Horde in Devolution zeggen dat die op het oude niveau zit. Natuurlijk, de plaat is goed, punt, maar ik had van deze gasten gewoon meer verwacht.

Eerste platen geniaal, nieuwe zanger nu, helemaal kut.

Live klinkt deze zanger wel erg goed met Psycroptic maar vind m op plaat erg slecht

Jammer dat men dan altijd nog zo'n extra promo praatje bij moet bij het vermelden van het nieuws. En dan nog altijd van dat extra info wat iedereen al weet, in de hoop dat die oudere releases nog extra verkocht worden.

Ben wel benieuwd naar de dvd overigens.

Mwah, Observant vond ik behoorlijk tegenvallen alsook het laatste optreden wat ik van hun zag vorig jaar in de Baroeg.
