WOLVERINE Resumes Work On New Material

Drummer Marcus Losbjer of the Swedish progressive metal band WOLVERINE has issued the following update:

"I'm looking forward to FINALLY record the new album, after more than three (!) years of writing in a limbo! The absence of inspiration have been really severe this time. This album have been a struggle to write, by far the most difficult album to puzzle together out of all the WOLVERINE albums. It's the complete opposite to the last album ('Still') that was a dream to write. It was fast and actually quite easy!

"As you may have read on forums, MySpace and so on, we've had more difficulties to deal with this year than just the minor problems concerning the band. The heart problems with Stefan's [Zell, vocals] daughter has maybe been the toughest. A reminder of how fragile we are! Everything has been mixed into a big melting pot, just ready to explode! Thankfully, it didn't.

"After the ProgPower Europe gigs in October, we found a little spark to lighten the inspiration again. This time I hope it will never go as ice cold as it has been!"

Klinisch, technisch, cleane zang + braafburgelijke grunt..episch wellicht nog..dat soort werk.

Wolverine klinkt al een paar platen niet bepaald extreem meer.
De laatste plaat ligt veel meer in het straatje van latere Anathema en Katatonia.

Idd, en laten die laatste 2 platen nou magistraal zijn!

moet zeggen dat na een keer beluisteren The Window Purpose prima vind, maar Cold Light of Monday vind ik toch ietsie minder...

Nou, dat was in hun demo-periode. Want The Window Purpose is hun eerste full-length en daar komt de grunt nog maar sporadisch voor (in twee of drie nummers dacht ik).

WOLVERINE: 'Communication Lost' Details Revealed - Feb. 2, 2011

Swedish progressive rock band WOLVERINE will release its new studio album, "Communication Lost", on May 23 in Europe via Candlelight Records. The CD was recorded at various locations in Sweden between February and August 2010. It was mixed by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark in July/August 2010 and mastered by Eroc at Eroc's Mastering Ranch in Germany in December 2010/January 2011.

"Communication Lost", which was produced by the band, features 11 tracks and has a running time of approximately 70 minutes:

Lyrically, the album deals with personal issues the band and the individual members experienced during the four years WOLVERINE spent composing the material. The result is a melodic and moody metal album which feels like a natural progression from "Still", which was released in 2006.

The "Communication Lost" cover artwork was designed by Marcus Losbjer (drums) while Thomas Jansson (bass) contributed to it with "great photos."

Opvallend gebrek aan reacties op de nieuwe plaat. Ik vind hem in ieder geval ijzersterk, ook al had ik hiervoor nooit echt iets met Wolverine.
