Statement of Alboin/Geist
concerning the gig in Arnhem on 9/9.

This goes out to everybody who - like us - was very much looking forward to the appearance of GEIST at the gig with Lunar Aurora and Graupel on the 9th of September. After having been confirmed for the event on the 28th of July, it has now been made official by the organizer that "it seems Geist cancelled" (thread in the Myrrthronth forum). This is obviously not true, and we'd like to let you know the reason for us not taking part in the concert.

Zingultus, on behalf of the band Graupel, sent out a mail to all involved people (that means the bands and organizer), complaining about Geist having been confirmed for the gig. Besides being "totally pissed" by the fact they haven't been asked upfront if they'd agree to see Geist playing with them, they also stated: "The aims of Graupel and Geist, concerning the spirit of Black Metal are much to different for us, to collaborate with or even support them". Shortly after, the organizer of the gig sent me an email indirectly kicking us off the billing. That we have been removed eventually seems clear with presenting the "replacements" on the flyer.
Eventhough I talked to everybody being involved, also to Zingultus personally, I was not able to reach an arbitration that allows us to play this gig. This is by far the most disappointing action I ever had to witness and personally handle with in over a dozen years dealing with black metal music. Zingultus told me this is not against us personally, but concerns "traditions and conservative principles" the band Graupel stands in for - and Geist's way of presentation and making music "simply does not fit in" a gig with Graupel. This, according to Zingultus, may only been seen more flexible in case the questionable band is personally friends with Graupel (like the band Endstille for example). We're not.

I'm sorry for you, fans that loved the idea to see Geist playing with their label mates, that we're also neither friends of narrow-mindedness and blind traditionalism nor friends of bands of that kind. I doubt we'll ever become such on that way.

nee dit optreden draait om lunar aurora en graupel.. geist probeerde zich dmv valse beweegredenen ertussen te hoereren.. :-)

Iemand nog een mening over het concert?

Ik was niet aanwezig, maar ben wel benieuwd...

en nog andere foto's dan allen wat gezichten met corpsepaint die zo bij ieder willekeurig concert konden zijn worden geschoten?

Lunar Aurora viel zwaar tegen, tering. Graupel was de band van de avond.

Graupel was idd de sterkste band vd avond. Lunar Aurora speelde best goed maar kwam, mede door het geluid, gewoon niet lekker uit de verf.

Ik vond Lunar Aurora aardig goed klinken, helaas hebben ze bijna geen oudere nummers gespeeld. Het keyboard had iets harder gemogen, maar voor de rest vond ik het geluid prima.
Graupel vond ik redelijk standaard klinken, maar was zeker niet slecht.

De foto`s van LA zijn helaas zo goed als allemaal mislukt doordat ik geen flits gebruikte en er zeer weinig licht was om te fotograferen.

Post de foto's maar die wel gelukt zijn.
