"We've spent the last year trying to write songs for a new album, planning to go into the studio this summer. Unfortunately, after a lot of thought, we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone the recording indefinitely.

"We know everybody says that their new album is better than their last, but with us we really believed that. From day one we made it clear that we'd stop recording when we felt we'd written the ultimate BOLT THROWER album; we just never knew when that would be. We kind of took for granted that each release would get better and better. But we have realized now that our last release, 'Those Once Loyal', turned out to be that album, and basically the new stuff we have written just doesn't match up to it. We have a lot of pride in our back catalogue, and we refuse to turn into one of the many bands (like the ones we grew up listening to) who end up releasing crap, and we're also not prepared to compromise by instead releasing an album of cover versions or a 'best-of' album.

"Sorry to disappoint those of you looking forward to hearing new BOLT THROWER songs, but we always said that we would never release anything we weren't happy with or that, in our view, didn't at least match up to our previous work.

"For those of you living in Holland, Germany and Belgium, you will get the chance to see BOLT THROWER live soon, as there are a few select shows lined up. The confirmed shows are:

"August 7th - Atak in Enschede, Netherlands. This is our second home, and we've played at Atak on every tour for the last 18 years. Sadly, the club will be closing down this month and they will be moving to a new building in the autumn. So we were chuffed when they contacted us and offered to re-open for one night, so we can say farewell to this cult club and be the last band to ever play there. We decided that the tickets will be free and we will be informing you soon on the lineup and how to get tickets.

August 8th - Party.San Festival in Bad Berka, Germany. As headliner we will play a longer set than usual, so expect to hear a lot of songs we haven't played for a while.

"August 9th - Hof ter Lo in Antwerp, Belgium. For this show we will be joined by the best and upcoming bands from the Benelux. The confirmed support bands are: GOD DETHRONED, BORN FROM PAIN, THE SETUP and ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK. Tickets are 11 euros."

Men begint de tour altijd in Atak of speelt er in ieder geval de tweede dag van de tour, vandaar.

Dit is nou precies waarom Bolt Thower rules. Fuck Wacken, en wel Party-San, geloof in je eigen materiaal, gratis in Atak... Alleen jammer van God Dethroned wat een zielig ongeinspireerde band.

Helemaal mee eens. Met de kanttekening dat ze volgens mij na ...For Victory niet echt meer hun topniveau qua schrijven gehaald hebben. Dit zal ik altijd met de mantel der liefde bedekken, want een nieuwe Bolt Thrower betekende altijd een nieuwe tour. En er is geen band die live zo'n ontzettend gaaf death metalfeest neerzet als zij.
Ik moet naar Atak. Simple as that.

Tuurlijk, heb ik weer. Zit ik op Party-San, daar spelen ze ook wel maar Bolt Thrower in een zaaltje is altijd beterder.

"Metal Breakfast Radio", the podcast show hosted by Dave Ingram (former vocalist for BOLT THROWER, BENEDICTION, DOWNLORD) and Donovan Spenceley (ex-DOWNLORD/NEPENTHE guitarist) have new episodes available for streaming/free download at their web site.

The show features unsigned underground metal bands and is currently accepting material from new artists wishing to have their material featured on the program.

On Monday, August 18, Dave Ingram will put the first of three BOLT THROWER videos he made in 2006 into the weekly "Metal Breakfast Radio" RSS feed as vidcasts. First up will be "At First Light". This will be the only time the videos are available for download. Currently they are only viewable on YouTube.

Commented Ingram: "I wrote and asked if it was okay to do so. Jo [BOLT THROWER bassist] replied, gave the green light, and the first one drops into the RSS feed in a few days."

In addition, on Monday, August 25, "Metal Breakfast Radio" will release a crossover episode in cooperation with Gramie Dee and his "Autopsy Report" metal show; both programs will play tracks chosen by one another. The second BOLT THROWER video, "When Cannons Fade", will also drop that day, and the final video, "Salvo", the following week.


Said Ingram: "I'll not forget my time in the band, and the videos are a way I can give tribute to one of if not THE MOST honest, hard working and uncompromising bands in the scene. Simply put: Hail BOLT THROWER!"

De inspiratie was volgens hunzelf dan ook al een tijdje verdwenen, en toch herhaalden ze zich op iedere plaat goed, niet meer zo als op de eerste drie.
Maar toch beter dan bands die iets nieuws proberen, en totaal niet meer klinken zoals de band klinkt.

Hmmm, ik vond het geluid helemaal niet kut. Perfect was het ook niet, vooral in het begin niet maar echt kut zeker niet.

Return from Chaos

We'd like to thank everyone who came to Atak, Party San and Hof te Lo. Although it was only 3 shows it felt like a whole tour, as we covered a whole range of venues & crowds in that short time, and had our fair share of problems that included 5 breakdowns on 3 different (replacement) buses.

The Atak show was a hot, sweaty, crazy one and we wouldn't want it any other way, it was great to see old friends and familiar faces again. The fact that it was the last time anyone would ever play there was pretty sad, but it was great to celebrate the club's history along with the 275 special guests. The Atak crew were all amazing - (thanks a lot for everything) they made the night really special. Outside the venue was a red carpet with a 'Welcome home Bolt Thrower' banner. However cool you try to be, you can't help but be chuffed with that!

Party San Open Air next, and we knew straight away that we had made the right decision to play there, the organisation was great, all facilities were good, the prices were cheap, and everyone we spoke to could only speak highly of it. We hit the stage at gone midnight, the premature intro wasn't the best start we could've had, and also the British weather that we brought with us put a slight dampener on things, but luckily the majority of the crowd suffered the rain with us, and the gig was a blast. Was nice to see the reaction to 'In Battle There is No Law' being played for the first time in 15 years!

Finally Hof te Lo in Antwerp, we hadn't played there before, but is one we will definitely play again, despite being a real sweat-box! The show had only been confirmed two months earlier, but Jan and the Heartbreak Tunes Crew did a great job with the promotion and getting a good bill together and 800 people turned up on the night. Karl had problems with his throat, but still decided to play the show, and despite that, the gig was killer, and a really great end to a rollercoaster weekend.

We'd like to say cheers to Cone Of Silence, Fallen Saints, Born From Pain, The Set Up, Anaphylactic Shock and especially Holland's finest God Dethroned for sharing the stage with us. Also massive thanks, as always, to our loyal crew - Turtle, Sabrine, Phil, Andy & Oscar, who made the shows slightly less chaotic than they could've been!
