Bassist DENNIS PEPA Quits DEATH ANGEL - Oct. 28, 2008

Bassist/founding member Dennis Pepa of the long-running San Francisco Bay Area metal act DEATH ANGEL has announced his departure from the band.

"I've been with DEATH ANGEL since its inception in the '80s and believe it is time for me to move on," he said in a statement released to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "Throughout my career with the band, I've brought a punk-influenced edge to the DEATH ANGEL sound, and as an open-minded musician in need of change, I'd like to diversify and explore other opportunities within and beyond the genre of metal. The DEATH ANGEL guys are my family, both literally and figuratively speaking, and I wish them luck on their future endeavors. Many thanks go out to Nuclear Blast Records and the fans, who have extended their support and friendship — I look forward to being involved in new music projects and continuing to connect with all of you."

DEATH ANGEL's video for "Dethroned", a track off the band's latest album, "Killing Season", can be viewed below.

Director/producer Robert Sexton had this to say about his ties to DEATH ANGEL and how the gig practically landed in his lap: "I'm excited about this video and I think D.A. fans are going to go nuts for it. It's a great song and there are a lot of layers to the story and to the visuals. There's something new to see every time you watch it, and DEATH ANGEL's performance decimates. My band GENOCIDE opened for DEATH ANGEL at an all-ages show in a Masonic Hall in Grand Haven, Michigan in the late '80s. Years later, I ran into Mark Osegueda at an absinthe party at Kirk Hammett's house in San Francisco. Mark informed me that DEATH ANGEL were doing their new album, and I asked to be put in the mix to direct the video."

Vanavond naar Death Angel in Essen...

Afgelopen weekend gaven ze weer een puike show weg, met zo wel een nieuwe drummer als bassist.
Erg gave band, vooral live!

Inderdaad op Graspop waren ze ook super. Weinig achteruit gegaan met die nieuwe bassist en drummer.

afgelopen zaterdag op fortarock hebben ze ook een hele vette show gegeven

hoezo is die drummer er eigenlijk uit?

Ik weet het nog niet met die nieuwe. Hij pakt mij nog niet echt.

Europe Summer Tour 2014 Cancelled



It's with a heavy heart I have to inform you that the rumors you are hearing are unfortunately true...although there is a platinum lining to this black cloud of Death Angel's 2014 summer festival season.



The Platinum lining is that we are very proud to announce is DEATH ANGEL WILL be playing HellFest this year! Hell fest will have the exclusive European Death Angel show this summer!

However! Our billing on that festival has been updated.

We will now be playing on Sunday June 22! (The Black Sabbath day!) On main stage #1

In place of Megadeth who unfortunately had to cancel…and we plan to give that slot on the bill, and you metal fans the damage it deserves!



The Dark cloud I must announce is the rest of our summer festival has been cancelled...and cancelled by us.



I assure you this has NOTHING to do with the structure, or strength of the band itself! We feel the band is at its live performing peak riding on the wave of our latest album, The Dream Calls for Blood!



It boils down to the infrastructure of the business side of this band…

Certain aspects of how this band was being handled we're no longer matching up to the quality level of product we are releasing, and the live shows we've been unleashing! And if we carried on that way any longer it would have damaged the core of what is us, and that is The Band!

So we are taking this time to restructure our business team to make DEATH ANGEL the strongest band that we can possibly be from the outside to the core!



The lineup is intact! The hunger is voracious! And we will be back in Europe with a full blown tour when we feel confident that we have the full arsenal, and team behind us that this band, and it's music, and most of all you fans deserve!



We are doing all we can to expedite this process! I know some of you will not understand this aspect of the art form known as music! But! It is a business. And hasty business choices in this art has brought down bigger than us....And we have NO intentions of being brought down!



Some of you will have negative comments, and thoughts...

But! Believe me! No one is more saddened, and disappointed about these cancellations than us...



And if you have ever seen us live I'm sure you can attest to our love for being on stage!



That being said!

We'll see you at HELLFEST!

And we plan on giving you a performance that night that will convince the naysayers that DEATH ANGEL is here to stay!

And a force to be reckoned with!



The Dream Calls for Blood!

And Death Angel is still bleeding!

Ik had mijn kaartje al voor Sittard

Ik als Hellfestganger vond het jammer dat Megadeth afzegde, maar dit vult de leegte wel mooi op.

Het album The Dream Calls For Blood is wel heel DIK ook

Ze verdienen het ook, deze mannen doen bijna niks anders dan alleen maar touren..

Ben altijd heel nieuwsgierig als Death Angel met een nieuw album komt, al moet ik bekennen dat ik de laatste 3 releases niet heel veel aan vind.
Hun comeback plaat 'The art of Dying' daarentegen vind ik geweldig en draai ik nog regelmatig
