Te gek!!! In het begin vrij rauw, daarna steeds gladder. Sinds de andere frontman hebben ze een middenweg gevonden.

De laatste 2 albums heerschen!!!!

Superoriginele band en een van de duidelijkste voorbeelden van een zwaar onderschatte band.

Former Metallica bassist, JASON NEWSTED, has officially confirmed his role as the new addition to original VOIVOD members, SNAKE (aka Denis Belanger) - vocals, PIGGY (aka Denis D'Amour) - guitar, and AWAY (aka Michel Langevin) - drums. JASONIC (Newsted's new given moniker) will also serve as producer for the metal legends' upcoming release on the Chophouse Records label (in association with Surfdog Records).

Long-time friends and pioneers of metal music, the four musicians first began working together at Newsted's Chophouse studio in 1995, intent on keeping the music alive between busy touring schedules. However, with his recent departure from Metallica in January 2001, Newsted was free to work on a myriad of projects, which could now be more than just hobbies.

With a working title of "THE MULTIVERSE," VOIVOD's 13th release will feature 13 brand new tracks all to be recorded and mixed at The Plant in Sausalito, CA from October 13 through November 13, 2002.

VOIVOD first began recording back in 1983, creating an innovative and very identifiable musical style which can best be described as ferocious, progressive metal. And now, on the eve of their 20th anniversary, with the return of Snake (the voice of VOIVOD), they are set to release an album for which anticipation has been building in underground metal circles for years.

Newsted - "Those who know Voivod respect Voivod around the globe! This is the new beginning for all of us. We're the same age, raised on the same music. We've been through a lot of similar situations. All 4 of us are having such a good time writing our metal music together, in one room - bashing it out, it's real again!!"

Ben niet zo vaak meer op het net, vandaar; anyway; wat extra exposure mag best voor zo'n ondergewaardeerde band.

Ik moet toegeven dat ik ooit wat live heb gezien op TV, maar niks thuis heb liggen ..

www.voivod.com; hier staan videoclips en vele live nummers op waarvan een complete gig; live at Paradiso (er staat Paradise maar wij weten beter )

Voivod is niet zo makkelijk samen te vatten aangezien ze vele albums hebben uitgebracht die allemaal anders klinken hoewel ze altijd een soort space-achtige sound uit hun gitaren haalden; eerst ruig met War & Pain en Rrröööaaarrr, daarna steeds beter gecomponeerde nummers en weer later steeds meer naar poppy en gladjes. Weer later werden ze weer ruiger en hadden ze op Negatron & Phobos opeens een hardcore-achtige zanger/ bassist die wonderbaarlijk genoeg is genezen van een op twee plaatsen gebroken rug door een tourbusongeval (!!!) echt een die-hard; gozer trad gewoon weer op met stalen platen in z'n rug terwijl de doctoren zeiden dat ie in een karretje terecht zou komen.
Anyway; hij heeft de band wel aangeklaagd voor deze toestand, maar nu is de originele zanger weer terug.

Het leuke van Voivod is altijd dat de muziek altijd heel fris en origineel heeft geklonken, maar kennelijk ook te eigenzinnig waardoor ze nooit écht zijn doorgebroken (voor zover we daarvan binnen de metal over spreken) en dus eigenlijk een cultband is.

Voivod regeert (deels) en ik ben erg benieuwd naar het nieuwe materiaal!!!

wisten jullie dat hun gitarist een hersentumor heeft gehad maar het wel heeft overleeft?

Vond ik vroeger wel een coole band. Dimension Hätross en zo. Maar ben het contact met de band al lang verloren, toch niet echt mijn ding. Maar een nummer als Tribal Convictions blijft goed.

De laatste twee zijn ook weer goed. Veel steviger materiaal.

Ik heb liever de herinnering aan hun ouwe shit, eerste metal band met samples en geluidjes volgens mij, geen industriele muziek, maar volgens mij heel belangrijk geweest in de ontwikkeling van dat genre.

Booking Agent Slams VOIVOD Over NILE Tour Cancellation

The booking agent in charge of the forthcoming NILE tour of North America has slammed VOIVOD over the group's decision to cancel their participation in the upcoming month-long trek.
VOIVOD were originally set to perform on the five-band bill alongside NILE, NAPALM DEATH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and THE BERZERKER. However, in an official statement released last week, VOIVOD officially withdrew from the tour, citing a desire to focus on the recording process for their forthcoming album, "The Multiverse", as the main reason for their decision to pull out of the trek.
Not so, according to John Finberg of First Row Talent, who claims that the actual reasons for the group's decision to back out of the tour were at least partly money-motivated. "The official reason VOIVOD bailed on the upcoming tour, contrary to reports from 'within the camp' is that the member — whatever he is named this time [presumably referring to Jason Newsted—ed.] had an enormous star attitude and demanded everything from more money to a catering list that could feed an army, along with the 'my own bus' request," Finberg said in a written statement submitted to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "They didn't leave to finish the record and actually the band are three weeks away from finishing their 'opus' and would certainly have been ready to tour eight weeks later, but according to the 'manager', the words from the mighty ONE was he would rather be opening for the FOO FIGHTERS. It all starts three weeks ago when a major pay increase was asked for to cover 'new things' that arose recently. Then we hear from what we are told [is] an intern that the rumors spread were inaccurate and to continue work on the tour. Post after post came back [stating that] they were off [the tour], but management swore time and time again — a lie, of course — they were on and it was an assistant and not anyone who had any authority to speak.
They turned and left the package surrounded by lies. We found out about it by reading this site [BLABBERMOUTH.NET] one morning and upon a call to management were told for 30 minutes that it is a decision that came hours earlier. The NILE camp still has yet to receive a phone call or written correspondence from the ONE or anyone in the camp who feels we are owed the truth. Just setting the record straight since it has yet to be set."

Nee, heb het nooit geweldig gevonden, te vaag.

De eerste vier platen zjin wel cool, maar zou ze niet willen bestempelen als mijn favorieten.

Dimension hatross en Killing technology zijn mijn favo voi vod platen!

De eerste drie platen zijn verrekt goed, daarna is het me net iets te experimenteel of of geworden (hoe je't ook wilt noemen). Alhoewel de twee albums erna ook nog heir en daar wat leuks bevatten...
Voivod heeft ook 1 plaat op ons eigenste MausoleuM, Negatron was dat (odtss al vroege/mid-90s moet dat zijn)

Aangezien ik de originele van War And Pain niet heb (maar wel wil kopen), ga ik die re-release zeker kopen! Mjammie.
Vind Voivod een meesterlijke band. Vooral het oude werk.
