Wat mij betreft is hun beste plaat...(en de meest freaky)...de meesterlijke 'Phobos'

Dat ben ik absoluut niet met je eens. De openingsriff (na het 'intro'tje' uiteraard) in korgüll the exterminator is simpelweg meesterlijk. Een van de smerigste thrash metal riffs ooit geschreven.

sommige bands mogelijk wel; maar die zijn dan ook saai.
Voivod is overigens alles behalve saai.

geweldige band! zowel het oude als het nieuwe!
zelf vind ik negatron helemaal geweldig!

Ik heb vandaag de nieuwe Voivod aangeschaft, voor 1 euro, en de eerste luisterbeurt geeft met alvast het idee dat de zanger kut is. De riffs zijn verder wel goed te doen.

je meot ook de eerste 2 platen beluisteren , die schoppen dikke vette kont!
aaarrrrgggg wat een vette platen zijn die echt meesterlijk! zulke agressie !!

ja het latere werk wordt ik niet echt warm of koud van van.... maar de eerste 4 albums zijn wel tof, echt super vind ik eigenlijk alleen dimension hatross en killing technology...

je bent een vaag figuur

ja ik vind VoiVod een beetje een vage band, ik kan er niet vaak naar luisteren, af en toe als ik in een bui ben wel.

het is wel heel apart en ik vind het ook bets goed, maar niet iets dat ik lekker effe opzet.


de eerste twee zijn nog erg VENOM/CELTIC FROST achtig IMO, natuurlijk wel vermegd met hettypische VOi VOD geluid!

Persoonlijke favorieten zijn War And Pain en (vooral) Dimension Hatross.
Rrroooaaarrr is misschien geen superalbum, maar toch heeft het wel wat (inclusief de titel ).
Gelukkig was de opvolger Killing Technology stukken beter.
Nothingface en Angel Rat kan ik ook goed waarderen, ondanks dat tempo grotendeels omlaag was gegaan.
Negatron vind ik maar matig. De nummers lijken te veel op elkaar naar mijn mening.
The Outer Limits, Phobos, Kronik, en Voivod (het album) moet ik nog eens (liefst snel) uitproberen...

Dit weekend die War And Pain (3-disc box set) gekocht voor 19,99 Euro bij Boudisque.
Het geheel ziet er netjes verzorgd uit. De remastered version van War And Pain klinkt zeer goed (= Niet of nauwelijks verschil met origineel en dat hoeft ook niet.)
Van de vorige versie had ik slechts een cdr en daarom vond ik het wel de moeite waard om deze versie te kopen. Betwijfel het ten zeerste of ik het anders ook had gedaan.

Voivoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!

Het album Voivod klinkt gigantisch lekker, maar wordt snel saai, draai je geen 3x achter elkaar. De andere album heb ik allemaal op mp3, ik vind er eigenlijk weinig aan.

Ik vind de combinatie van die muziek (vrij hard) met de stem (vrij zacht) echt meesterlijk

Misschien wel leuk om deze band toch nog eens te proberen, weet iemand welk album er vergelijkbaar is met het album Voivod?
Of wat is gewoon het beste album?

Hmmz, ik ken niet alle albums... dus ik kan je niet zeggen welke het beste is... maar ik ben wel benieuwd naar die nieuwe!!!

VOIVOD: New CDs, DVDs, Books On The Way - Nov. 4, 2005

According to MTV.com, VOIVOD — whose guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour died in August from complications of advanced colon cancer — will release four new albums that feature Piggy, confirms the band's label, The End Records. The first disc will feature the songs VOIVOD were working on at the time of Piggy's death and will be finished in December with producer Glen Robinson (ANNIHILATOR, NASHVILLE PUSSY), mixed in January and released next year. Piggy recorded all of his parts for the record on his laptop with ProTools. While working with that material, drummer Michel "Away" Langevin discovered another three albums' worth of finished songs that the surviving bandmembers will work with over the coming years.

As previously reported, Langevin is still in the process of scanning hundreds of drawings for his book, to be released early next year on Troubleman Unlimited. The book will consist of 300 black-and-white drawings and 50 colored pictures. Away is also continuing work on the group's next DVD release, "DVOD-2", which will contain footage shot during the Eric Forrest era of the band. A follow-up DVD release, "DVOD-3", will cover the band's most recent lineup, which included former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted.

Back in August, just days before Denis "Piggy" D'Amour succumbed to advanced colon cancer, Voivod drummer Michael "Away" Langevin said he awoke one morning to a ringing phone. It was D'Amour, and he wanted Langevin to stop into the Montreal hospital
where he was being treated. D'Amour said he wanted the drummer to come as soon as he possibly could.

"He told me, 'You have to come [to the hospital] right now. I have something to tell you,' " Away recalled. "I went, and he told me that the doctor informed him he had days to live. He said he really wanted to fulfill his contract with the End Records," Voivod's label home, "and then he instructed me to grab his laptop and started telling me where to find these files."

The files contained what Away described as "four albums' worth" of lead, rhythm and solo guitar tracks D'Amour had recorded prior to checking himself into the hospital the previous spring. While Voivod — rounded out by former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and singer Denis "Snake" Belanger — had spent more than two years working on fresh material together, none of it was recorded with state-of-the-art equipment in a professional studio. The music on D'Amour's laptop was.

A couple of hours after Away's bedside visit to D'Amour, "Piggy's mind started to wander, and I was asking him questions about the [computer files] and he had no idea what I was talking about. It's almost like he woke up and felt his brain was going and realized he needed to tell me [about the tracks] as soon as possible. He slipped into a coma a day or two later, so this album came very close to not existing."

"Close" is an understatement. But the good news is the album — which the band worked on with producer Glen Robinson (Gwar, Annihilator) by writing and recording around Piggy's guitar parts — is done. Away says he feels the yet-untitled effort's a fitting homage to his fallen bandmate. "It's quite a miracle that this music will live on," he said.

The disc, to be released this spring, will feature 10 tracks, with working titles like "Red My Mind," "The Getaway," "Polaroids," "After All" and "No Angel." Voivod plan to return to the studio in the fall to record another 13 tracks for an album Away said will surface in 2007.

"I'm proud of this album in the sense that it would have been a disaster that Piggy's music would go unheard," the drummer said. "Now it will be released, which is a miracle. I am proud that we were able to gather our spirits enough to actually finish off his work."

Voivod have no immediate touring plans, Away said. That's because it's been too hard for the band to discuss the topic. "We decided to concentrate on finishing this album and think about the live aspect of it later," he said. "Right now it's difficult for us to think about touring without Piggy being onstage with us. I think we'll have to eventually sit down and really discuss it, but it was hard enough to go into the studio and finish the album without him.

"Piggy was a founding member and has been there with us all the way through. I have been jamming with him since '79, so it's really hard to picture a tour without him. ... We'd have to find a replacement that Piggy would be proud of."

Killing Technology - Die cd heb ik, die vind ik best goed om naar te luisteren. Niet al te vaak, ik word dat soort muziek een beetje snel zat.
