Endymaeria(NL) live Review,Taste Rockcafe,Groenlo(NL)02-11-2013
Alright.Just came back from a performance from the Dutch blackened Doom/DM act Endymaeria.Knowing the band since their period of Signs of Zodiac(pre-bandname),they have developed ever since. And tonight wasn't a exception, with the surprise a new vocalist(Dave left the band some months ago). The first interpretation was the new material (recorded at the Excess studio,Rotterdam) sounds louder and faster, with the violin still backing up in the background.A surprisingly thing is the violin now just growed along with the new songs, while in the past this wasn't the case. The songs sometimes reminded me of old Amorphis and the German Night in Gales, and everything wrapped up in a nice suitabable jacket for the new age.Checking their setlist it's all about doom and gloom, and from the looks of it,it won't change that drastically.Abit dissapointing was to see most of the audience already leaving by hearing the first tones of the first song, and only got worse while the singer finally began to sing(not in a negative way in a Metalheads point of view). Not the right audience for this band, yet a handful enjoyed quite a set.If you are a fan of old Amorphis, and classical blackened Doom/Death Metal, you won't get dissapointed in seeing them performing live,or purchasing their records.
