ik kan het hier alleen maar mee eens zijn!
------------------------------------------------
Finally I got my copy of the Proctor and Wolversveen split cd. Most of the times I'm not really into all those Dutch blackmetal bands using Dutch lyrics simply because a lot of them are way too pathetic. Though both Proctor and Wolversveen are of a different league. Yes, both do make use of Dutch lyrics but still they can't be compared to other bands at all here in Holland. In fact, this split cd became even way better than expected and after having heard this album for many many times in a row over the last few weeks I can conclude that this album is maybe even thé best and most blackened album ever to come from Dutch soil this far. Within a bit less than 50 minutes there is not one single moment which isn't good or boring. It actually stays interesting all the way 'till the end and when it is finished it'll make you push the repeat button over and over again.
About Proctor's part of the split now which covers the first seven tracks. Proctor's sound can be best described as industrial, maybe even machine-like blackmetal with Dutch lyrics as well as samples with Dutch lyrics. I think some comparisons with the typical Moonfog sound come close. Just think of Thorns or maybe also the newer Satyricon (eventhough they're not on Moonfog anymore). Another band which comes to my mind is Trelldom, just listen to "Mensenhaat" which sounds quite epic. But even though I've compared Proctor to these forementioned bands I still dare to say that Proctor sounds original enough. Proctor's part of the split actually sounds really dark and mysterious yet at the same time extremely hate-filled. Also the sound is really good, especially when having in mind they produced the album themselves. All in all one of the most promising bands out of Holland.
Wolversveen is up next and they are responsable for the next five tracks on this split. And just like Proctor also Wolversveen plays an industrial kind of blackmetal. And also Wolversveen's sound comes pretty close to that typical Moonfog sound and once again later Satyricon and especially Thorns come to my mind. Just listen to "De synaps splijter" in which there is a great mystical synth used. The use of the synths definately adds a lot to the total sound of Wolversveen. I also really like the spoken parts (in Dutch) in this song. It makes it all the more atmospheric as well as sinister and creepy, just like the use of an organ which is used in some of the songs as well. Furthermore I want to say I really like the guitar sound which is clear yet at the same time razorshap. Just like Proctor also Wolversveen has got an above average sound on this split cd, which is also produced by the band themselve. What I've said about Proctor can definately be said about Wolversveen as well. They are also one of thé most promising bands out of Holland. And for me they are already thé most blackened band out of Holland. No doubt about that!
As last there is one song done by both Proctor and Wolversveen together, called "Zwarte furie". As expected it sounds like a combination from both Proctor and Wolversveen and can be seen as a nice way to end this extremely satisfying split album. I've said it before already and I will say it once more: both Proctor and Wolversveen belong to thé most promising bands out of Holland and I advice anyone into the darker sides of music to check both these bands out!
