Kennelijk zijn de magazines wel erg groot Testament-fan. Ik vind het een erg vette plaat, maar zo wereldschokkend is het nou ook weer niet wat Testament hier doet. Sterker nog, tegen het einde begint het zelfs een beetje te vervelen...

nou, ik vind dat behoorlijk overdreven. Dat betekent dus dat die plaat beter (of op zijn minst even goed) is als "the legacy". Dat is natuurlijk niet het geval.Ik vind dat er maar twee echt goede nummers op staan terwijl de rest amper gemiddeld tot aardig is. Nee, ik hou het wel bij "the legacy", "low" en "the gathering".

(of the nieuwe soilent green, een cd die wel bomvol staat met vette, afwisselende, agresieve nummers en in de buurt van een "100" komt)

Dat krijg je als een oudgediende na lange tijd terug komt met een nieuw album, door de hype eromheen kan het ALLEEN maar tegenvallen.

Heb het nieuwe album nog niet gehoord, binnekort maar doen.

Maar ik hoor niemand hier over The New Order? Vind dit zelf wel een heerlijke plaat.

Favoriete Testament plaat voor mij.

Ik heb me daar niet zoveel van aangetrokken. En het is echt wel een goede plaat geworden, maar laten we nou niet doen alsof Testament niks meer fout kan doen en "The Formation of Damnation" de plaat van de eeuw is. Dan ben ik nog meer onder de indruk van de nieuwe Death Angel.

Ik probeer elke plaat van een artiest los te zien van het voorgaande werk. Met dat als uitgangspunt kan ik niets anders zeggen dat The Formation Of Damnation een heerlijke plaat is! En voor mij is hij i.i.g een stuk beter dan Death Angel's laatste die ik dus gewoon in de schappen heb laten staan!

Ik heb hem al op plaat maar toch leuk dat hij nu ook op cd komt:


Testament "Live at Eindhoven"

Before Wacken, there was Dynamo.

For 20 years, the Dynamo Open Air Festival -- originally held in 1986 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Dynamo rock club in Eindhoven, Holland -- was one of metal's most important annual events, peaking in 1995 when 118,000 fans packed the grounds of an abandoned Dutch military airport to see four dozen acts play on three different stages over three June days.


In 1987, though, Dynamo was still in its infancy. For that matter, so was the performer who would leave the biggest mark on the event that year -- Bay Area thrashers Testament. After their debut album, "The Legacy," made instant waves worldwide, the group was invited to make their European debut at the second Dynamo festival.


After a "warm-up" show at the 300-capacity Dynamo club the night before, Testament took the stage on a rainy June 8 and floored the 14,000 fans in attendance with an aggressive, fiery 45-minute set that showcased much of the material on "The Legacy." Five songs from their performance were captured on the EP "Live at Eindhoven," which was issued as a cassette and a 12" LP. However, the band's full set was never released officially -- until now.

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the April 14 release of "Live at Eindhoven '87," which for the first time brings you Testament's complete 1987 Dynamo performance. A metal history lesson of the highest order, "Live at Eindhoven '87" sees the group's original lineup -- vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Louie Clemente -- at their absolute hungriest.

San Francisco Bay Area thrashers TESTAMENT have been spending time in the studio recording their new album, "Dark Roots Of Earth", tentatively due in February 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Due to a "serious injury," regular TESTAMENT drummer Paul Bostaph was unable to take part in the recording sessions for the CD. Playing drums on the follow-up to 2008's "The Formation Of Damnation" is Gene "The Atomic Clock" Hoglan (ex-DARK ANGEL, ex-STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, FEAR FACTORY, DETHKLOK), with LAMB OF GOD's Chris Adler set to make a special guest appearance on a couple of bonus tracks.

Commented TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnick: "We're more than halfway done recording the new album, 'Dark Roots of Earth'. It's coming along as well or better than any album this band has done. It just seems to have a focus, clarity and definition on a level that I don't remember at this point in the process. Of course, you can never truly sum up an album until all the tracks are recorded, the mixes are done and the entire collection is mastered. But from where things stand right now, it's looking like we may have a winner."

Wel een goed product dus, maar de intensiteit ontbreekt grotedeels en dus is die voor mij maar 75 van de 100 punten waard. Helaas geen klassieker dus, jammer.

The Gathering was voor mij de laatste écht goede plaat. The Formation of Damnation is imho gruwelijk overrated.
