25 October!!!! Divine Incarnation uit in North America!!! Review nr.1 Supreme Pain - Divine Incarnation (Massacre Records) By: Mike Sloan [8.5/10] Sporting a slightly more polished (but thankfully not too polished) sound than on previous albums, Holland’s Supreme Pain have unleashed one hell of a more traditional death metal album just before the end of the year. Arguably their finest moment to date, their third full-length Divine Incarnation is a sickeningly perfect blend of old school American brutality/catchiness and Scandinavian barbarity/finesse. Upon repeated listens, the overall feel of Divine Incarnation is that of the more modern Brett Hoffman-fronted Malevolent Creation releases (The Fine Art of Murder, Envenomed, Invidious Dominion), Sinister (singer Aad Kloosterwaard did do the vocals for the Swedes’ last three albums) and, of course, Slayer. To say that Divine Incarnation is a shredding, thrashing slab of fury would be an understatement. It’s as brutal as it is hook-laden and the guitar solos are thoughtful and well crafted, like on “Damned Creation” and “Trapped in Heresy” (the highlight of the bunch). Luckily for the listener, the blistering speed and sheer grinding aspects laced with venomous blast beats, while there are plenty, don’t wear out their welcome. Instead, and much like the aforementioned Malevolent Creation, they dole out the crippling blitzkrieg for the right amount of time, only to snake into a swirling, catchy thrash fest. A fine example of this is the infectiously groove-filled middle part of “Treasonous Disease.” Though Kloosterwaard’s voice doesn’t change tempos or octaves, if ever, he does a fine enough job to not grow stale. The only real drawback of the album is that the drums are a bit too thin in the final mix; they should be more thunderous. They’re death metal drums, after all! Fortunately they are audible enough where they do some serious damage when the volume is cranked up to dangerous levels. Had they been deeper, this one would have easily garnered another half point. In all, Divine Incarnation is a stellar release, one that continues to embolden the nasty army of more traditional death metal albums that started crawling out of the pits of Hell in early ’09. Though it’s not exactly anything original, it’s clearly one of the better DM releases of the past several years. Scoop this monster up! http://www.blistering.com/fastpage/fpengine.php/link/1/templateid/24229/tempidx/4/menuid/2?PHPSESSID=dd592653b14c5e2cc9983596bc9ed8e5 |

As you would expect from the name of the band, Supreme Pain is a death metal band and this Dutch metal band can bring it with the best of them. They bring the fury and pain straight from the bowels of hell with their third, and latest, release, Divine Incarnation. From the opening of Dawn of a New Era to their first track proper, The Dark Army, you pretty much know what you are getting yourself into. The next track, Damned Creation, is one of my favorites on the album. The opening chugs along with a great rhythm and maintains that rhythm for a while until descending into utter chaos by the middle of the song. The proceeding tracks all follow the same formula of fast tempos and nice songwriting skills and the vocals keep up with the music very well. My biggest complaint about the album, and it is really not that much of a complaint is the lack of variety on the album. Like I said, it is really not a complaint since I would be happy to reach out for this album when I need some extremely brutal death metal. Divine Incarnation Track Listing: 01. Dawn of a New Era – 1:26 02. The Dark Army – 3:59 03. Damned Creation – 5:36 04. Treasonous Disease – 5:47 05. Trapped in Heresy – 6:27 06. Spiritual Sickness – 4:27 07. Divine Incarnation – 4:47 08. Putrefied Beauty – 3:50 09. The Fallen Kingdom – 4:53 10. Towards Hell – 6:18 Supreme Pain Line-up: Alesa Sare – Bass Paul Beltman – Drums Bas Brussard – Guitars Erwin Harreman – Guitars Aad Kloosterwaard – Vocals Dutch death metal maniacs SUPREME PAIN are prepared to drop Divine Incarnation on North American audiences, their third and strongest album to date, and the band’s debut for Massacre Records. The brutalizing quintet features a cast of death metal militia including vocalist Adrie Kloosterwaard (Sinister, Infinited Hate, ex-Houwitzer), drummer Paul Beltman (ex-Sinister, ex-Judgment Day, ex-Infinited Hate, ex-Fondlecorpse), bassist Alesa Sare (ex-Sarcasm, Root ‘A Balluta) and guitarist Bas Brussaard (Fondlecorpse, ex-Infinited Hate). This lineup culminates massive talent with the ranks of SUPREME PAIN, who break out their heaviest weaponry to date on their third full-length Divine Incarnation. Produced at Soundlodge Studio by Jörg Uken (God Dethroned, Dew-Scented, Defloration), Divine Incarnation is the band’s most epic and evil atmospheric album to date, but not by weakening their groove-laden, aggressive death metal. http://wickedchannel.com/2011/11/metal-review-supreme-pain-divine-incarnation-2011/ |

Holland s reigning kings (and queen) of Death Metal, Supreme Pain, are back with their fourth release, Divine Incarnation ! Building solidly on a reputation for having both a foot in Old School Death & Roll and looking forward past those stuck in the same ol same old, Supreme Pain remain one of the top Euro Metal acts today. Brooding drums, chugging and seamless guitars hit headlong with the unrelenting fury of Adrie Kloosterwaard s (of Sinister fame) guttoral but comprehensible growls and lots of melodic guitar soloing, Divine Incarnation is a true treat for those ears starved for quality Death Metal. Divine Incarnation was again recorded at Germany s Soundlodge Studio with producer Jorg Uken (Sinister, Dew-Scented, God Dethroned). A most epic and evil atmosphere does the Divine Incarnation bring forth! http://www.chronixradio.com/node/2139 |

IN THE PIT with Chronix Radio: Featured Band of the Week = Supreme Pain !! Sun, 11/20/2011 - 21:28 | IronHorse78 If you are a fan of brutal guitar shredding, wicked rapid fire drumming, sick bass riffs, and gnarly vocal growls, then you must check out the latest release Divine Incarnation, from death metal heathens Supreme Pain. Hailing from Ridderkirk, NL Supreme Pain is: Supreme Pain (click image for larger view) Erwin Harreman – Guitar, Paul Beltman – Drums*, Adrie Kloosterwaard – Vocals, Alesa Sare – Bass, Bas Brussaard – Guitar * Eric de Windt (not pictured) has recently replaced Paul on Drums Supreme Pain has been added to the Chronix playlist ! Check it out here. Request on ChroniX Metal ! Although Divine Incarnation doesn’t stray far from the traditional death metal formula and sound, it is far from boring or predictable. We are introduced with the short instrumental track, “Dawn of a New Era.” This could have easily been a much longer instrumental given this band’s talent and ability to play so seamlessly and musically together, but it provides a perfect contrasting lead-in for the brutality of track 2, "The Dark Army." I begin to really feel this album at track 5, “Trapped in Heresy.” This song is the equivalent of travelling a thousand miles in 6 ½ minutes…and not missing a single transition of scenery. The opening presents us with some harmonic tremolo action that likens to the wild cry of black war horses as they prepare to ride off into battle. Quickly we are driven back by the breakneck speed of some chain-gun drumming and the aggressive accompaniment of Erwin, Bas, and Aleša. Adrie then comes in with his deathly growling vocals to complete the team. “Trapped in Heresy” could easily be 4 or 5 songs separately, but instead, we get them all wrapped up in one precision crafted work that is capable of speeds upward of 300 beats per minute. For those of you that have trouble sitting still, as I do, this is the perfect song for you - there are plenty of transitions, solos, bridges and breakdowns to keep you occupied. Track 6, “Spiritual Sickness,” is damn near as awesome as the previous one. I particularly like the raspy growl of Adrie’s vocals in this song, and there is a different feel and sound to the guitar riffage which distinctly sets it apart from the others. All in all, as I said before, this is not some kind of new experimental death metal album…it is in-your-face, straight out the gate death metal that gets high scores for speed, deathly vocals, superb guitar shredding, and a seamless fusion of instrumental play. **UPDATE !! Supreme Pain has recently changed drummers and Eric de Windt is now a part of their line-up. They have been kicking ass in rehearsal. Hopefully things will settle in and they’ll get a tour going in 2012! Here’s a video of their most recent rehearsal. Some pretty impressive drumming by de Windt, considering it’s his first rehearsal !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=H83Y9djcfZ4 http://www.chronixradio.com/node/2203 |
