Zeker eens naar hun ouder werk ook luisteren. Voornamelijk de twee hierboven vermelde albums (Pale Folklore & Ashes against the grain).

Faustian Echoes viel hier wel meteen in de smaak. MotS moest ik even aan wennen, vooral de productie en de genrewisselingen maar vind ik inmiddels ook tof. Eerste drie zijn gewoon klassiekers en de meeste EPs zijn ook wel de moeite waard.

The Serpent and the Sphere is inmiddels volledig te beluisteren via een officiële NPR stream.

Valt niet eens zo verkeerd.

Zeker niet. Doet me behoorlijk aan Pale Folklore denken, en hier en daar wat The Mantle. In ieder geval weinig MotS of Faustian Echoes-vibes.

Deze plaat. Zo.

Erg gaaf op het eerste gehoor. En inderdaad veel 'ouderwetser'.

Vind deze de eerste luisterbeurten wat fragmentarischer overkomen. Heb het idee dat de samenhang net iets teveel mist.

Nagenoeg precies hetzelfde als wat ik dacht bij Marrow. Maar niet bij deze. En Marrow is uitgegroeid tot een van mijn favorieten van de band.

Plateau of the Ages

Klinkt na een aantal luisterbeurten een stuk beter dan de vorige plaat. Bevalt me goed.

Agalloch - The Official Page

After being inundated by a barrage of responses, I feel that I should clarify some things. I take full responsibility for the decision to part ways with the other guys. It was difficult, well thought-out, and something that had been culminating over the past couple of years. I simply could not continue any further with the band as it was. I had to make a change as my motivation and inspiration had started to completely deteriorate. Whether this is the permanent end of Agalloch altogether or a possible fresh start, I don't know. I probably won't know for awhile. The band has simply been reduced back to its founding, visionary member for the first time in 20 years. Beyond that, the future is unknown.
