Eeen spijtige zaak, daar ik de muziek van Danzig echt wel te genieten vind...wat niet veranderd.

DANZIG Named 'Loser Of The Week' By The Arizona Republic - July 16, 2004

The following is an excerpt from Muck Raker's "Losers of the Week" column in the Arizona Republic:

"On July 3, Tuba City became the site where the name of the former lead singer of THE MISFITS was officially synonymous with mud. After bumping several opening bands in order to play his set two hours earlier, Danny Marianino, lead singer of Arizona hardcore band the NORTH SIDE KINGS, had a word with Danzig about this slight, which turned into a word and a knockdown punch.

"Fortunately for Loser watchers, cameras were rolling and video of the six-second bout spread like wildfire through metal Web rings. The video, which lasts all of 20 seconds, shows Danzig with his bald spot facing the camera listening calmly to Marianino before shoving Marianino and being felled like a sack of Satan-worshipping potatoes.

"Normally, this bit of news would just peter out in the ether but since Danzig is such a renowned jerk, everyone has come out of the woodwork to dis him. Everything from humiliating PhotoShop doctored photos of Danzig and cutting remarks from martial artists who studied the video frame-by-frame since Danzig has said in interviews he trained under Jeet Kune Do master Jerry Poteet. 'Maybe Danzig only trains to defend against groupies??' snickered one post while another wondered more philosophically whether it was the fat guy or Danzig's ego that knocked him to the floor. Just when it looked like this story was dying down, Danzig announced that this will be his last tour. Final score: Ego 2, Danzig 0."

Medicom Toys in Japan will be issuing three limited edition soft vinyl figures dubbed, The 3 Faces Of DANZIG. They represent the three distinct phases of Glenn Danzig's career: Danzig, SAMHAIN and THE MISFITS. Each will be released separately, dates have yet to be announced. As previously reported, the new Danzig album, Circle Of Snakes, will be released on August 31st. The initial pressing comes with a limited slip cover.

Al ben ik niet bekend met het oude werk, dit klonk echt ruk.

Die nieuwe cd is wel redelijk, maar moet 'm toch wel vaker luisteren eigenlijk.

Meesterlijk wordt het waarschijnlijk nooit meer...

was de eerste keer dat ik ze zag/hoorde, dus ik weet niet of het een goede show was. ik vond de lichtshow wel aardig

nee man, ok hij klinkt niet fantastisch maar ik vind hem zeker wel goed vooral skincarver, hellmask, white angel, black angel zijn wel leuke nummers

ik vond het in ieder geval niet naar meer klinken

Dat optreden was zwaar okee! Zijn muziek is niet mijn stijl en de eerste 2 nummers stond er iets in het geluid niet goed en kwam zijn stem nogal krachteloos over, maar heb de rest van de show staan bangen dat het een aard had.

Dat heb ik niet bij alle bands op Summer Breeze gedaan...

Zojuist weer eens een cd'tje uit de kast getrokken (4p), en het blijft na al die jaren genieten hoor...

da's ook in mijn ogen z'n beste. Laatste keer live in 013 was die ook erg ok. Nieuwe werk in niet zo gaaf maar die oude nummers zijn echt zo vreselijk goed gemaakt!

wat is algemeen beschouwd de minst slechte Danzig cd?

de nieuwe cd is er, een verzamel van niet uitgebrachte nummers... ook wel leuk

Ik blijf het een goede band vinden, ondanks dat ik nog niets van het nieuwe album heb gehoord. De oude albums heb ik hier zo-ie-zo allemaal, en luister ze regelmatig.

Ben overigens wel erg benieuwd naar het nieuwe album

Get ready to celebrate a new sort of 'Sabaoth.' Glenn Danzig -- the man, the myth, the muscles, the Misfits mastermind and, of course, the master of many talents, ranging from composer to comic book publisher -- is ending a six-year dearth of new music. Noisecreep has exclusively learned that Danzig will release 'Deth Red Sabaoth,' his first new studio album in six years, on June 22 through Evilive/The End.

The album is his ninth and was produced by Danzig himself. It was recorded in Los Angeles throughout the course of 2009. The multi-tasking Danzig handled bass duties for most of the album and even played drums on the song 'Black Candy.'

'Deth Red Sabaoth' is 11 songs strong, and some song titles include 'The Revengeful' and 'On a Wicked Night.' There is also the two-parter called 'Pyre of Souls'; part one is said to be dirgy and opens with an acoustic guitar, a piano and Danzig's signature vocals, while part two erupts with electric guitar fury. Longtime Danzig cohorts guitarist Tommy Victor of Prong, who has worked with the singer since 1996, and drummer Johnny Kelly of Type O Negative/Seventh Void, played on the album, which marks the first time Kelly -- who has intermittently sat behind the kit for Danzig live shows since 2002 -- has actually recorded with Danzig.

The album has a natural feel, thanks to the way the iconic Danzig attacked the recording process, choosing to steer clear of studio trickery and technology. "I think that fans will really dig this new album," said Danzig in a statement. "I've been told several times that the album has a cool vitality to it, that it sounds energized, and I got that feeling when I was recording it. I wanted to have an organic sound, bigger and thicker, so I went out and bought some 1970's Kustom tuck 'n' roll bass amps to play some of the guitar parts through. You'll hear real reverb, real tremolo on this album, which sounds completely different than the stuff that's done with computer chips."

From that description, it sounds like 'Deth Red Sabaoth' is going to be beefier than Danzig's arms, which look like they could crush walnuts!

The visually-arresting artwork for 'Deth Red Sabaoth' was designed by award winner Joe Chiodo, who has worked on dozens of graphic novels and comic books, most notably 'X-Men Unlimited.' It makes total sense, as Danzig is a noted comic book fan and publisher; Chiodo also works on Danzig's own Verotik publishing line.

Danzig will tour in support of the album, with dates to be announced imminently. Steve Zing, who played in Samhain with Danzig, will play bass on those dates.

Welcome back, Glenn. Our world is a little happier knowing it'll be blackened by a new Danzig album in just under three months
