Nattkvad is een Noorse melodieuze black metal band opgericht door Ramnsvarturh (aka Adhramalech), bekend van o.a. Forlorn in Silence/ex-Nebular Mystic). Van Audiopain niks nieuws onder de zon, gewoon doen waar ze goed in zijn...en da's lekkere old school thrash met een zwart randje.

Dead To This World is de nieuwe band van Stian (ex-Immortal, ex-Necrophagia) met Radek en Tormod van Taake. Hier wat info aangaande DTTW:

Formed in Bergen, Norway, in 2002 & was set out to be Iscariah's (Necrophagia, Immortal RIP) solo project. It has now grown into a full band which sees the return to the ancient speed/thrash/black metal underground. A 3 track demo was recorded on the 23rd of April 2005 in Voltage Studios Bradford, UK. A limited edition hand numbered promo package of 150 copies was sent out to relevant & potential sources in the scene, but was not available for sale to the public. However, the demo is now released as a 7''EP through Iron Pegasus Records in a strictly limited edition. Also, a split-7"EP with Audiopain was just released through Hearse Records. The debut album will be recorded winter 2006 & the band is currently looking for a record deal.

Ja loopt lekker , zijn net een maandje bezig en ik ben zeker niet ontevreden . Je kunt je ook registreren om snel advertenties op de site te gooien, we hebben inmiddels iets van 42 leden, dus join in zou ik zeggen.

Newcomer Nattkvad brings us 4 songs of really varied and sometimes folky black metal. Lots of melody and atmospheric passages abound on their demo. "...I Morkskog" calmly ushers in the album with some clean guitars that remind me oddly enough of something done by Laaz Rockit a long time ago but then all similarities disappears when the midtempo black metal ensues. The Vocal pacing and sound reminds me a lot of Kampfar at times. And there are some musical similarities to Kampfar as well, at least to these ears, but for the most part Nattkvad display a huge spectrum of metal influences incorporated into their arsenal. The melodic leads that constantly rear their head throughout the album interject a sort of playfulness to the music that keeps the music kind of light and dreamy despite the obvious seriousness the vocalist implies. This interplay is one of the demos best features in my opinion. Sometimes I even catch glimpses of Gregor MacIntosh of Paradise Lost fame hidden in some of those leads. I love those calm yet spacey keyboards on the beginning of Fra Avgrunnen. Though different it reminds me of listening to some of the material from Burzum's Hvis Lyset Tar Oss. The production is somewhat better than I would have expected even though the drums sound pretty bad. But so what this is a demo. heh heh. But I mean the guitars sound really clean and the vocals are devastating. The only time I question their songwriting skills is when they use the spoken word sections on Det Spoker where it sounds quite out of place. I look forward to bright/dark things from these guys in the future. And I would like to thank Marcel (ex-Vampire Mag) for turning me on to them.

Nekromantheon
We're Rotting


"Dirty" and "Thrash" are two words that when used in conjunction to describe a band they bring great joy to my heart and ears. Nekromantheon is a killer thrash project masterminded by members from several other notable Norwegian bands such as Obliteration and Rabalder. The promo sheet that came with this release compared it to Destruction, Sadus, and Kreator and I would say that is a pretty accurate representation of what the listener can expect. This EP, and I call it an EP because it is not even 18 minutes long, is 7 songs (at roughly 2 and a half minutes apiece) of aggressive and catchy thrash that brings to mind Pleasure to Kill era Kreator the most to me. But there is also the ever present Destruction influence right there surfacing when the time is right like on those warbling guitars carrying the meatier sections of I Shall Serve. And my favorite part on the whole release are the shout along Chorus' of the Title track....."We're Rotting!!!!!" I can also detect an influence from their contemporaries in Audiopain with some of the drumming and riff combinations such as the beginning section of Nekromanthoen which brings to mind Fraud Machine from Audiopain's The Traumatizer. Nekromantheon are skilled musicians and We're Rotting is well constructed yet seemingly they play with a reckless abandon that imbues this EP with a power and aggressiveness from the opening bitter riff until the last gravel drenched chord has left your speaker. A great example of this seeming contrast is the mind-splintering riff that forms the foundation for the classy lead at around the 1 minute mark of blistering opener, Towards Nihility. Glenn's vocals are more or less shouted but he has an almost vomit like edge to them which I find a little humorous but they still maintain the right level of anger and aggression. Most of the time he basically reminds me of Sverre Daehli, whose raspy vocal are unmistakable. For anyone who thought that after Aura Noir, Audiopain, and Nocturnal Breed, Norway was depleted of quality thrash bands these days then you need to search high and low for this gem of a release. I think I might even like Nekromantheon better than these guys' regular bands.

Lijkt mij juist van wel. Ik bedoel, vroeger moest je maar zien hoe je te weten kwam dat die bands bestonden en shit uit brachten, nu kan iedereen het op het net vinden.

Persoonlijk vind ik dat fijner, en lijkt het me juist omdat er meer info beschikbaar is je de underground een stuk levendiger kunt houden

Nietes! Nymphea Aurora had ook makkelijk 3000 ipv 30 shirts kunnen laten drukken, maar dat zou ons scenepoints kopen!

En ondanks internet is het toch nog moeilijk om van sommige bands het bestaan te weten te komen. De underground leeft dus echt nog wel, alleen focussen velen zich te veel op de grotere bekende namen en krijg ik het gevoel dat mensen niet meer geinteresseerd zijn moeite te doen om nog eens wat op speurtocht te gaan naar goeie nieuwe bands.
