De Bad Brains lp Roir Sessions is de blauwdruk voor hardcore. Ik kan je aanraden deze plaat eens te kopen/downloaden (skip die reggea stukken).

DK's draaide voornamelijk om Jello Biafra met z'n grote muil. Niks tegen de DK verder, Fresh Fruit... is een ijzersterke plaat. Op het gebied van DIY is Black Flag zondermeer de meest invloedrijke amerikaanse hardcore-band ooit geweest. Via het label (SST) en als pionier op de manier van optredens en tours opzetten. Lees maar eens Get In The Van van Henry Rollins of, nog beter, American Hardcore: A Tribal History van Steven Blush. Vooral die laatste is zoiets als een (durft het woord bijna niet in de mond te nemen) bijbel.

Muzikaal is Black Flag m.i. het beste op de eerste releases. Damaged (eerste met Henry Rollins) spat bijna uit elkaar van de gedrevenheid en intensiteit. Tot op de dag van vandaag maakt die zelfs nog gehakt van al die nieuwe bandjes. Hoe hard ze ook klinken en hoe veel beter de productie ook is, de Flag blaast het met gemak aan puin.

Krijg hier net een grappig cd'tje op mijn schoot geworpen van Devils Whorehouse; 2 leden van Marduk die op de Misfits/Samhain-tour gaan. Klinkt best oké (want klinkt heel erg als Misfits/Danzig/Samhain)

Whaaaa, gisteravond in 013: pipedown, antiflag en heideroosjes. Wou er eerst niet heen, maar ben toch maar gegaan, had het niet willen missen

Een van de meest onderschatte bands in dit genre. Nummers zijn zeker representatief. Probeer de Unboxed Set op de kop te tikken. Daar staan al hun relevante platen op (1 cd). Anders is vooral Back From Samoa dé plaat om aan te schaffen. Of de eerste single Inside My Brain. het materiaal uit de jaren 90 is niks...

De Foo Fighters coverden ooit Gas Chamber trouwens. Grappige teksten ook: They Saved Hitler's Cock is een giller!

2013 was een beetje een ruk jaar voor hardcore en punk. Ik heb maar 5 lekkere platen in m'n lijst kunnen krijgen:
