Twee verse ondervragingen met betrekking tot Falkenbach:
quote: Interview with S, ex-keyboarder of Crimson Gates, Topic: "Crimson Gates" published: December 18, 2005
Crimson Gates was foundet in the early 90's by four musicians, one of them was Vratyas Vakyas. Information about this project are rare, the more pleased I am now to offer you a brief, yet exclusive interview with S., ex-keyboarder of Crimson Gates.
1. Could you give us a brief description about the musical style of Crimson Gates created?
It's been really hard to define the kind of music we played back then, but it hadn't got too much to do with that typical kind of Black Metal that was common at that time.
2. Two demos were recorded. What do you think about them?
Well, numerous better demos have seen the light of day I think, but there are also a lot of worse demos, no doubts about it.
3. You also played two concerts...
It's been quite interesting to play live on stage in front of a couple of hundred people. Nevertheless my feelings about it were and still are ambivalent.
4. What do you think were the reasons for Crimson Gates to split up in the end?
For sure on one hand due to a lack of time, as some band-members started to work in full time jobs, but also because of interior problems.
5. Is there any chance for a reunion of Crimson Gates?
I don't reckon that something like that will happen.
6. Do you think there is at least a chance some day there will be an official release of Crimson Gates, for example an old demo?
Might be, but I don't think there's a need for it.
7. What can you tell us about your own musical progress since Crimson Gates did split up?
Throughout the years I composed songs, and I still do, but I did not participate in any band. Several songs are completed, and maybe it will lead to a demo one day.
quote: Interview with Vratyas Vakyas, Topic: "Liveshows and gigs" published: December 10, 2005
1. Do you remember the first concert you ever visited?
I am not 100% sure if it's been the first gig ever, but at least on of the first concerts I visited. Must be about 15 years ago, maybe 1-2 years less, in the early '90s, some sort off festival with underground bands where a couple of friends of mine did play back then. The only name I still remember of a band that playes there is "Inferior". It's been a rather disappointing event, as the sound was really bad, and the location far too big compared to the number of visitors.
2. The last festival you visited?
The last festival I visited was "Ultima Ratio" in 2005.
3. The band that disappointed you most on stage?
Definitely "Assassin". I've been to one of the first gigs they played after their reunion. The whole show sucked totally, the "sound" nearly did not exist at all, without doubts the most disappointing gig I've ever seen, because I was really looking forward to it.
4. And which gig did impress you most?
Must be a gig at a very small club at Cologne, cannot remember when exactly, but It's probably around ten years ago. Back then Desaster, Behemoth and two more bands I cannot remember played there, the venue was totally overcrowded, the atmosphere great. Mainly I kept this concert as one of the most outstanding ones in mind due to the shows the bands offered, but because of the people there at this evening, who created a really impressive atmosphere and freaked out totally.
5. Which band surprised you most at a concert, in a positive way?
The last band that really surprised me at a concert was "Fluisterwoud". I've not been familiar with the band in advance, but seeing them live was quite good.
6. The main aspects for a good gig for you in general?
The venue shouldn't be too large, and there should be an adequate number of guests. It doesn't matter if 50 people are at a venue with space for 50 people, or 200 people at a venue for 200 people, in the end it's just nice when a club is pretty crowded. Beside that it's important to don't see too many idiots there, a rare fact lately btw. Last but not least the sound should be adequate as well of course.
7. What is the most annoying thing about live shows for you?
I am having problems to cope with the behaviour of most bands I've seen playing live, as well as with alot of the visitors and guests. Of course having fun should be a part of the reasons to go to a concert, on the other hand some seriousness was indicated as well in my opinion. A gig shouldn't be similar with going to the cinema or a tavern, but something special. Sometimes I am having the impression a gig nowadays is just some sort of comedy, you can find so many pathetic behaviour, people screaming empty phrases, and I am really missing the seriousness there.
8. How often do you use to visit gigs, and what kind of concerts you visit usually?
Well, maybe 2-3 times a year, sometimes even less. I do not use to visit concerts of well known bands, but prefer underground gigs in general, except for some smaller festivals sometimes where also some of the more popular bands play.
9. Can you tell us your opinion and expectations about a possible live show of Falkenbach?
At the moment there are plans for playing a couple of shows some day if possible. I cannot tell you too much about the circumstances, but it's not meant to play in larger venues for example, but in small clubs. An adequate sound would be desirable as well. Beside that, nothing that comes to my mind now. No one should expect things on stage like in a theatre, we're talking about a metal gig in the end. All you should expect is a handful of people on stage playing songs of Falkenbach, no big special effects etc.
