Da's een bootleg in zeer gelimiteerde oplage met de live opnamen van het Inferno festival van enkele jaren terug. De band heeft zelf niet eens een kopie van deze bootleg dus ik ben benieuwd waar dit ding te krijgen is... Greetings to you all! Erik, the drummer of Aeternus decided to quit the band a while after the Production of “HeXaeon” was completed. He was with Aeternus from the same year as I started the band which was 1993. His reasons were honest and understandable as we all respect his ways and opinions regarding his musical path and so forth. Erik said he simply had no more to give the style of extreme metal-music, he felt he had done enough and his passion and fire towards this type of metal style were no longer with him to the extent where it would give him something as a musician and a drummer to proceed. Erik meant a lot to Aeternus’ music and his drumming was always a part of what makes Aeternus what it is today. I will personally always be glad and honored for the time he spent in Aeternus. His skills and dedication were at 100% at all times. The way it should be. He will be missed and remembered as one of the greatest musicians I have personally ever worked with. I am glad to know that his drumming on ALL of Aeternus’ released material will always be there, reminding me of a tremendously great musical Era, but first and foremost an Era that has given me SO much inspiration as a composer of extreme music. Growing as a musician with him over a period of 13 years was something very, very special that I wouldn’t trade for anything. To Erik: We’ll miss you brother, as a highly skilled and dedicated drummer. The future of Aeternus is a bit on stand-by due to his departure, but Aeternus will continue and we are looking for a replacement. This leads to the fact that gigs and whatnot are not really “around the corner” anywhere to put it that way. Replacing Erik will take time and preparing a new drummer can take time as well. Hmmm,het is nog niet duidelijk hoe ze nu verder gaan. Ik hoop dat er weer een beetje van de dusiternis terugkomt als er een nieuwe drummer is gevonden. Alhoewel 'A darker monument'ook al weer wat van de oude glorie heeft, bedenk ik me op het moment da'k dit schrijf. Maar natuurlijk wel jammer dat Erik weg is. Was toch niet een beroerde drummert. |

Nu is Ares nog het enige lid van de originele line up, jammer want ik vond de releases met het originele drietal toch veruit de beste. |

Vandaag "Hexaeon" gekregen...wat een gave plaat is dit geworden. Wederom typisch Aeternus en toch is te horen dat Ørjan tegenwoordig ook meeschrijft en sommige stukken neigen daardoor een beetje richting Deathcon. Vooralsnog beter dan de vorige plaat  Hub de Gallier RIP 17-03-2013 |

Gister even een paar nummers gehoord. Klinkt erg vet, maar ik ben nog niet helemaal overtuigd moet ik zeggen. Het speciale is er toch echt een beetje af bij deze band, hoewel ze nog wel een behoorlijk eigen sound hebben. Maar goed, eerst maar ff een paar keer luisteren. Zelfmoord plegen is wel het laatste wat ik zou doen. |

Toch vind ik iets van die oude sound terug in hun nieuwe werk. Iets welke op hun voorgaande 2 platen helaas ontbrak. Hub de Gallier RIP 17-03-2013 |

Ik heb het nieuwe nummer ook maar eens geluisterd. Klinkt eigenlijk nog lang niet verkeerd. Ik vond Aeternus de laatste tijd (eigenlijk alles na ...and so the night became) klinken als een middelmatige death metal band. Maar in dit nieuwe nummer lijkt het wel of men meer tijd heeft besteed aan hun muziek. Hoewel het nog overduidelijk death metal is, incl. blastbeats, hoor ik ook eindelijk weer eens wat van het originele Aeternus geluid terug in dit nummer. ...lang niet verkeerd! I know it’s cold, but I will keep us warm with all the hate I radiate. We’ll be walking hand in hand in hell. |

Hexaeon gaat deze maand toch hoog op de "koop dat" lijst staan, hoewel dit voor mij wel zoiets is waar ik van vrees dat het me wat gaat tegenvallen. Gelukig staat die gasten hun technisch kunnen voor 100% vast. A darker monument is wel lekker fel, maar toch wat te anders. Als het dan toch ietwat van hun death-stijl mag hebben, hoop ik er iets van shadows of old op terug te horen  I'm a picture of ugly stories www.deathmetal.be |
