Statement van Gorruth van Temnozor'
Hails, Marcel!
We have 1 day left till our departure to Europe, so I don't have too much time to write long letters. But just a few short points here.
1) Antifa, who now try to create the whole mess against TEMNOZOR in particular and against Black/Pagan Metal bands in general, are no "fighters for justice" as they try to position themselves. They are just a bunch of marginal youth who are looking to create trouble for anyone who doesn't support their questionable political views and twisted morals. Antifa could only spam internet with their provocations, feed yellow newspapers with their shallow sensationalist rhethorics and paranoid arguments, then threaten and attack musicians of even completely unpolitical and legal metal bands with bottles and KO sprays when they (the musicans) are not ready and outnumbered (like it happened to Pagan Metal band KRODA in Warsaw), just because antifa "think" those are "nazis" for playing "suspective kind of music" and singing of their fatherland and ancestors instead of hailing Che Guevara and lowlife punk behaviour.
2) Marcel, you were yourself at our gig in Moscow on 04.04.2009, where we played in one of the most well-known rock/metal venues in Moscow before the auditory of circa 200-250 persons, you saw our whole live set, our regular public et c. TEMNOZOR is a Pagan Metal band, who sings about ancient Russian pagan soul, the archetype of our ancestors and about our love to our fatherland. There is nothing illegal in what we're doing or singing about (neither according to Russian laws, nor according to EU laws), so we don't think we need to "apologize" before any leftwinged troublemakers for having a worldview different to theirs.
3) Now just a few words about the random arguements "antifa" throws agaist TEMNOZOR:
a) Antifa "arguement" number 1: "Temnozor are nazis". Nazi means "National Socialist" or even to be more precise a member of German NSDAP party back in 1930's-1940's. None of the (current) TEMNOZOR members are "socialists", none of the current TEMNOZOR members are members to NSDAP party or any other political party at all. There is certainly a "national" component in what TEMNOZOR does, because we play Russian folk metal, sing in Russian language about Russian land, about our (mostly medieval) history, pride of being Russian and other personal feelings. Perhaps we should call everything with it's name and stop following antifa provocative tones, who say someone belongs to a banned political party of 20th century, just because this someone finds pride in his native culture and not in being leftwing junky, wall stainer and car destroyer?
b) Antifa "arguement" number 2: "There are swastikas in TEMNOZOR bandlogo".
Answer: They mean "swastikas" like NSDAP symbols from 1930's-1940's (which are illegal in the European Union and Russia)? Our logos (both new from 2005 and old from 1996) are shown on our bandpage and on countless fansites. As being Russian folk metal band we have Russian folk solar / tree ornaments on our logo (these ornaments date back to the prechristian era, when humanity didn't know about "antifa" and their paranoia). Those ornamental Russian solar symbols reflects our pride in being Russians and in being a part of Russian culture. Any legal expertise in EU police would prove the aforementioned symbols not being equal to German 1930's-1940's NSDAP attributics. And if some young anarchists are having visual hallucinations so they mistake folk ornaments for some symbol banned by laws they should stop eating (illegal) LSD stamps and address a doctor.
c) Antifa "arguement" number 3: "Temnozor members are members of Blood & Honour".
Answer: In present TEMNOZOR line-up there are no members of Blood&Honour and, as already said before, none of the current TEMNOZOR members are part of any other political parties or movements. Like it or hate it, it is truth. Visiting other concerts or festivals is a personal right for anyone. We can't "answer" for other bands, other organisations, other people and whatever else except ourselves. But when it comes to TEMNOZOR concert in Holland, I must assure you that the whole live set of TEMNOZOR will contain only genuine TEMNOZOR songs and none of these songs has any political message which might be considered as illegal by EU laws. We played several times in European Union during the last years, police was always present on all of our concerts and none of these gigs were ever stopped or canceled for being illegal, although "antifa" always made a mess (using sensationalist newspapers and TV journalists) because we openly speak against leftwinged and red anarchists here in Russia.
d) Antifa "arguement" number 4: "Temnozor released a CD on label called Hackenkreuz Production".
Answer: Indeed, some 7 years ago, a now long-defunct USA-based underground label named Hackenkreuz Productions printed 500 copiies of our first CD. Since then, I havn't heard from or about this label for last 5 years and the same album was released 5-10 more times on a few different labels who all have extreme names like extreme musical labels should have. No apologies. Now we have a question: "Does this occassion makes our gig in Holland illegal?"
e) Antifa "arguement" number 5: "Temnozor put some races above others".
Answer: Temnozor is a musical band, not a political party, thus TEMNOZOR is a collective of 8-10 different persons, each with his own personal views on everything in this world. These persons in TEMNOZOR are united by the idea of creating Russian folk metal music, not by teaching others about various anthropological doctrines or any other theories we may like or dislike. Temnozor lyrics contain no topics about anthropology or racial differences at all. Russian heritage, history, landscapes and personal feelings (such as pride, love and anger) are the subjects of TEMNOZOR lyrics. Unless, there is nothing illegal in it, I do not think we owe any apologies to any marginal semi-political groups (incl. antifa) for our personal feelings.
4) Last but not the least, tomorrow, before leaving home, if you would like, I could send you the complete professional footage (more than 1 hour) of our whole gig in Moscow. It shows us (TEMNOZOR), our symbols, our behaviour on stage, our public et c. You're welcome to show this footage to Roermond police, town major and town council. If they would find anything illegal there or any elements "political event" at all (even in the aspect of fully legal politics), I would gladly eat my hat. Some videos from this gig are already widely available widely on common internet services (f.ex. on youtube.com), so anyone could check those (f.ex. our new song "Silent be the winds") even right away. The whole fuss is simply a nonsense of some young marginal kids who don't know what else to do in their empty lives than fighting the windmills.
That's all I have to say, thanks for your time and attention
