SUFFOCATION Drummer To Appear On New PSYCHOMETRY Album - Apr. 29, 2008

Louisiana-based experimental project PSYCHOMETRY has tapped SUFFOCATION drummer Mike Smith to perform and record on its upcoming album, entitled "The Four Points".

According to a press release, PSYCHOMETRY is an atmospheric, melodic metal band made up of professional musicians experienced in several different styles of music. The project's sound ranges from symphonic, classical and electronic to extreme underground metal.

PSYCHOMETRY blends a wide variety of the world's music and is formed as a collection of composers so as not to be placed into a specific genre of music.

Mike Smith states: "The change in musical direction form the norm of death metal is a welcome one. It gives me the opportunity to retrain myself to play with the goal of appealing to listeners of multiple genres."

Gino Alache from RockumRadio.com conducted an interview with Mike Smith on February 11. During the 19-minute chat, Smith revealed the working title of the next SUFFOCATION album: "Blood Oath". According to Mike, the CD will be recorded by June for a tentative August/September release.

2009 is shaping up
to be Suffocation's most exciting and successful year to date! Not only are they
celebrating the 20th anniversary of their first release, Re-Incremation, but we
all are excited to announce that in the spring of 2009, Suffocation is expected
to release the much anticipated DVD, which has been 20 years in the making. In
addition, Suffocation's Blood Apocalypse Tour 2009 begins March 14th. They are
looking forward to hitting the road with such brutal supporting acts as, White
Chapel, Decrepit Birth, Veil of Maya & Psycroptic. After months of writing
and working in the studio, their newest CD "Blood Oath" is being recorded and
expected to have a release date of May/June 2009. Suffocation is psyched to be
co-headlining the Summer Slaughterfest, in both the US and Europe. Afterwards,
they are off to Japan, Australia and all of the other oversees countries they
have not hit in a while. A list of extensive tour dates will be announced.
Suffocation is also expected to possibly perform at a few shows at Ozzfest. We
will keep you posted. Keep an eye out for Suffocations upcoming video game which
will include unreleased tracks from Suffocation along with a comic book and many
other amazing surprises. In between writing and touring, Suffocation has also

Eindelijk weer eens een echt dikke produktie. Daar ontbrak het mijns inziens nog wel eens aan.

Heerlijke productie inderdaad! Weer dat lekkere bassige als in Effigy en Pierced, en dat voor een myspace nummer, ik kan niet wachten tot dat ding eindelijk uitkomt. De song zelf is ook te gek, ze blijven maar orginele riffs en structuren uitpoepen na al die jaren

Dit nieuwe nummer doet mij weinig tot niks. Ik mis de explosieve kracht. D'r zit een lekkere groove in dit nummer maar waar is de agressie gebleven?

Opzich lekker nummertje maar idd niet heel speciaal.

Er mist wat bind torture kill!

Had ik ook.

Er zijn intussen zoveel Suffocation-riffs dat ik het verschil met de voorgaande twee platen écht niet meer hoor.
