Rotting Corpse 'Circus of Fools' DVD Now Available

Reunited '80s thrash band ROTTING CORPSE, whose original lineup included SOLITUDE AETURNUS founder John Perez and former DEATH touring guitarist/roadie Walter Trachsler, have released their documentary DVD, entitled "Circus of Fools".

The hour-plus-long documentary, directed and produced by SPLarsen, contains rare career-spanning footage of ROTTING CORPSE, rare still photographs, interviews with present as well as former members Perez and David Gryder (BLOOD OF THE SUN) and 37-minutes of rare bonus material.

The interviews were not limited to band members but included individuals such as Jason McMaster (WATCHTOWER, DANGEROUS TOYS), Rodney Dunsmore (DEVASTATION), Scott Fulwiler, creator of TexasMetalUnderground.com and others who were able to recall the early days of ROTTING CORPSE and the thrash metal scene throughout Texas.

The majority of the interviews occurred during the May 2005 tour of Texas when a two-person film crew from Deermagian Filmworks accompanied ROTTING CORPSE, documenting each show and conducting the interviews.

Displeased Records in Holland have announced details regarding the reissue of some long out-of-print classic death and thrash albums. The following CDs will be remastered, include bonus material, lyrics and biography:

DISINCARNATE - Dreams Of The Carrion Kind (1993),
SACRIFICE's Torment In Fire (1986)and Forward To Termination (1987),
GORGUTS Considered Dead (1990) and Erosion Of Sanity (1993),
TOXIK's World Circus (1988) and Think This (1989) and
SADUS' Illusions (1988)/Chemical Exposure (1991), Swallowed In Black (1990) and Vision Of Misery (1992).

All releases will be printed in limited first editions of 5000 copies. Represses will follow in a later stage. More info will follow when the individual release dates have been set. CDs will be released on a monthly basis, starting from September 28th, 2006.

Lost and Found Records USA has announced official licensed CD reissue of the extremely rare speed/thrash metal classic, VIKING's "Man of Straw".

Originally released in 1989 on Metal Blade Records, this fully licensed CD release was fully remastered, and contains rare and never-before-heard bonus tracks.

Lost and Found Records owner Bryan J Anderson says, "We are extremely happy to have this title available once again. It's a shame titles like this are becoming almost impossible to find. It is our goal to bring these classics back to life better and louder than ever."

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM's "Live In Japan" DVD was released in February via Crash Music, Inc. The disc was filmed over three shows in Japan in January of 2004.

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM's latest album, "Dreams of Death", is available now on Crash Music, Inc. The CD was engineered by Tom Giatron and produced by FLOTSAM AND JETSAM and Tom Giatron at Genesis Studios in Phoenix. Travis Smith did the cover art.

Long-defunct British thrashers SABBAT will reunite to support CRADLE OF FILTH on their upcoming U.K. tour in December. The reunion came about "due to many a conversation with Dani [Filth, CRADLE frontman] and Paul [Allender, COF guitarist] whilst mixing the [new] CRADLE album," SABBAT guitarist-turned-producer Andy "Undie" Sneap told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "It was put to us that they'd love to see it happen (Dani still has his stolen copy of 'Dreamweaver' [1989] on cassette), and the more we've talked about it, it just seemed like opening for CRADLE on these shows would be a great way of getting the five of us together again for a bit of fun. It's not a long-term thing, [and we don't have] any delusions about the future — [it's] just a chance to play some of the old songs and have a blast."

DEFIANCE To Begin Recording New Album Next Week - Sep. 9, 2006

Reunited Oakland, California thrashers DEFIANCE, best known for their seminal late '80s/early '90s Roadrunner releases "Void Terra Firma" and "Beyond Recognition", have posted the following message on their official web site:

"We have been hard at work writing new material and preparing to head into the studio. The date is now set for September 15th to enter Trident Studios in Concord, CA with producer Juan Urteaga (EXODUS, SKINLAB, VILE) to start laying down tracks for our first album in over 10 years!

"We are all really excited about the new songs. Once the sessions are completed, we will post a song here, on this website."

As previously reported, DEFIANCE recently inked a deal with Los Angeles-based Corporate Punishment Records. The group's fourth album is tentatively due late 2006/early 2007. Upon completion of the LP, the band is looking forward to playing selected shows and festivals. In addition to the new LP, Corporate Punishment Records will also release the band's first long-form DVD, "Decade(s) of Defiance", compiling hours of live performance, interview and archival footage chronicling their nearly 20 years of existence

Part of the so-called "second wave” of Bay Area thrash (which also included the likes of FORBIDDEN, VIO-LENCE, DEATH ANGEL, and TESTAMENT), DEFIANCE officially disbanded in 1993 after the departure of vocalist Steev Esquivel (who would go on to form SKINLAB, and later RE:IGNITION), while the remaining members, with the addition of vocalist Dave Godfrey White (HEATHEN), formed INNER THRESHOLD, which would also eventually disband.

In 2005, rumors of a reformed DEFIANCE sent waves of interest through the burgeoning thrash metal community, until it was finally confirmed that the band had in fact reunited and were at work on their first new material in over a decade.

als ze nou in nederland niet erbij zitten.. zijn er dan nog mensen die hiervoor een overtocht gaan maken?

helaas zal dat niet lukken. maar ik ben er zeker van dat ze cradle keer op keer van het podium zullen blazen. en dat zal hopelijk op een dusdanige manier stimulerend werken dat ze een meer uitgebreide tour gaan doen (Biebob zou fantastisch zijn!!!) Hopelijk gaan ze dan ook nieuw materiaal schrijven. ik ben benieuwd of ze nu net zo een sterke cd kunnen afleveren als de eerste twee.

ik ook en ook nog in een klein zaaltje (willem II in Den Bosch), net nadat hun debuut uit kwam. in het voorprogramma van rage. dat was zeer cool (dat geldt niet voor rage overigens).

Cool, maar dit nieuws was min of meer wel bekend als je de Defiance website wel eens bekijkt. Hoop dat de nieuwe op Beyond Recognition gaat lijken, dan komt het zeker wel goed!

hmm ik vind RAGE nochthans ookw el vet, althans de owue albums. Manni is een wereldgitarist erg ondergewaardeerd.

Maar goed SABBAT is veruit de beste UK thrash act, ik heb ze nooit live gezien, wel SKYCLAD in 1993 en daarna nog een paar keer dat was ook vet.

skyclad echt vaaaak gezien tussen dynamo 92 en dynamo houdoe en bedankt... zou eigenlijk naar t afscheidsconcert op bloodstock gaan maar dat was op t laatst net niet meer te regelen... nog steeds een kloterig gevoel over grrrr

DETENTE's 'Recognize No Authority' To Be Reissued

DETENTE's clasic album "Recognize No Authority" will soon be reissued in the USA and Germany by Cognitive Records. Details will be posted at www.myspace.com/detenterna.

"Recognize No Authority" was a critically acclaimed recording that maintains a cult following to this day. It was also the launching ground for nu-metal metal producer Ross Robinson (KORN, SLIPKNOT, FEAR FACTORY, SOULFLY) who plays guitar on the album. The CD also marked the first full-length release by FEAR OF GOD's Dawn Crosby, who sadly passed away on December 15, 1996.
