Wacken is er inmiddels dus ook achter gekomen dat ze de verkeerde Cynic te pakken hadden (de NWOBHM Cynic en niet de US Cynic), getuige het feit dat ze de Britse Cynic inmiddels uit de line-up geflikkerd hebben

Gezien de onbekendheid van deze britten (nog nooit van gehoord), en de recente voorvallen lijkt het me gewoon niet zo slim voet bij stuk te houden..

Sean Malone komt ook mee met de tour van Cynic!

The great thing about writing with musicians you've previously worked/performed with, is that a kind of short-hand has already been established, and it's something that doesn't go away. Despite the fact that our compositional tastes and interests have broadened and diverged during the intervening years, there is still something indescribably natural about working with each other again; that the music itself is just a layer on top of something more meaningful. How else can one find common ground when each person is coming from such a different sense of "home?"

I suppose, one way or another, we'll find out at Wacken.

CYNIC Signs With SEASON OF MIST RECORDS - Apr. 30, 2008

Reunited progressive metallers CYNIC, whose 1993 album "Focus" is regarded as a landmark release in the field of technical/progressive metal, have inked a worldwide deal with France's Season of Mist Records. The band is set to enter the studio this summer with Grammy-award winning producer Warren Riker (DOWN, SANTANA) to begin work on its long-awaited follow-up to "Focus". The CD will contain eight songs, and the band is working once again with renowned artist Venosa (who created the unmistakeable cover and visuals for "Focus"). A late 2008 release is expected, to be supported by additional live shows soon to be announced.

CYNIC founding members Paul Masvidal (guitar, vocals) and Sean Reinert (drums), who both gained reputation and praise while performing alongside Chuck Schuldiner and DEATH in the recording and touring lineup for the milestone album "Human", recently spent time at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida working on the mix for three new demo tracks with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DEVILDRIVER, etc.). The three new songs — "Integral Birth" (which can be heard on the band's MySpace page), "Evolutionary Sleeper" and "Adam's Murmur" — led to the return of "Focus" bassist Sean Malone, who had heard the demo material and was excited by it. Although Sean had been busy as a teacher in another state, he renewed his ties with Masvidal and Reinert and it was decided that Malone would join them both for the recording of the second album, as well as live shows whenever possible. Rounding out the group's current lineup is Tymon Kruidenier, a talented guitarist out of the Netherlands who will also handle the aggressive vocals.
