Andere dingen over oude nummers; wellicht als bonus 'Death and Domination' of 'Whipping Queen'? |

ocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza has quit EXODUS on the eve of the band's South American headlining tour, BLABBERMOUTH.NET can exclusively reveal. Although EXODUS have attributed Zetro's absence from the trek to an illness suffered by the singer during the band's recently completed Japanese tour, Souza is said to have in fact left the group over long-standing business and personal differences. There has been no word yet on a possible replacement, but it is believed that one of the top candidates for the position is John Miller, a local Bay Area singer who had previously spent time with EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt and drummer Tom Hunting in WARDANCE, the ill-fated mid-'90s act that recorded a four-song demo and played several live shows before splitting up. EXODUS are currently touring South America with the help of a fill-in vocalist, Matt Harvey of EXHUMED Ik distancieer me volledig van ZM |

On September 11th, 2004 Exhumed guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey appeared live in Mexico City fronting one of his all-time favorite bands- Bay Area Thrash legends Exodus! The story in his own words: "I have to tell everyone who checks out the Exhumed site out there about the weekend I just had. Friday morning I received a call from Gary Holt, how awesome is that all by itself? He told me that Zetro couldn't make their next show and asked me if I wanted to fly to Mexico City THAT NIGHT to front Exodus the next day (Saturday, September 11th). To say I was honored to even be considered to fill-in for the show in Mexico would be a HUGE understatement. I've been a fan of Exodus since I bought "Pleasures of the Flesh" in 1987 when I was 11 or 12 years old. The first Metal show I ever attended was the "Headbangers Ball" tour in '89 with Anthrax/Exodus and Helloween. Exodus is one of my favorite bands of all time as has been thoroughly documented! It was a tough spot to be in, as there was no possibility of a rehearsal and I had to learn 3 songs from the "Tempo of the Damned" album that day! I did the best I could considering that we had only time to go through five songs at soundcheck. That was all the rehearsal that I had with the band, and I spent the rest of the day glued to my headphones and lyric sheets- but the show went off pretty well, judging by the crowd's reaction and the huge support from the guys in the band. I was floored! I guess all those years of singing along with the albums finally paid off, since we managed to do a 15 song set (set list below)! The band invited me to continue on and do their upcoming South American dates, starting Friday September 17th, but due to my work schedule and the short notice I had to decline their invitation. I was beyond honored and flattered though. As far as any speculation on my continuing with the band- There are no plans in the immediate future as far as that goes- and as far as auditioning now that Zetro has been fired- I don't think that I would be the right guy for the job on a permanent basis. To me, Paul Baloff (RIP) always has been and always will be the Exodus vocalist- as much as I love Zetro's vocals. Don't get me wrong, I love every Exodisc except Force Of Habit- but Baloff is more than a vocalist- he's a way of life! In conclusion to this overlong piece- I want to extend a huge thanks to all the Exobangers in Mexico City for being an amazing crowd and making me feel at home- because I would be lying if I said that I wasn't really nervous up there! I just want to thank Gary, Rick, Tom, and Jack for giving me the opportunity to front one of the greatest bands of all time on Saturday. I will never forget it as long as I live and I never would have thought that it would happen in my wildest "Heavy Metal fantasy" (as Exodus guitar tech Herr doktor Schnuggles would say)! A special thanks goes to the ever-indispensable Leon del Muerte for giving Gary my number. Baloff lives!" If anyone has any pictures or video, or audio for that matter I would love to see it. Hm. Lees ik net op de muur: From the Exodus message board: This has been another dreadfully difficult time here in the exodus world…this is one of the most depressing moments of my musical career…I‘m saddened to announce that Tom Hunting has fallen very ill, he’s been hospitalized several times over the course of the last two months. First things first! I need to be very clear about this before any rumors arise….this is in NO WAY associated to drugs…Tom had conquered his drug addiction well over a year ago and we are all very very proud of him for the unbelievable amount of strength and desire that it took to get and stay clean.. Our unfortunate reality at the moment is, the recording of the new album has been delayed due to Tom’s illness and recently it became evident that he would be unable to resume his duties behind the kit for us. …. Tom and the band both know he cannot continue as our drummer and his health must come before any obligations to the band. We have and will continue to support Tom in any way we can so he can regain his health. We all love and care for Tom dearly and will continue to help him in every way that we can….by no means was Tom fired or nor did Tom quit the band …the sad fact is that Tom is not able to play drums at this time….and we (Exodus) have got to carry on without him…. On a brighter note I'd like to take this time to welcome to our ranks as the newest member of Exodus,” Paul Bostaph” (Slayer, Forbidden) We could not be any luckier than to have as awesome a drummer as Paul available and living in our own backyard. I am stoked about working with Paul as he is, bar none, one of the best drummers in the world, and we are fired up to have someone with his ability coming aboard. Obviously, the tracking of the new record will be delayed, but we are committed to hitting the studio ASAP. The songs are fuckin' savage and a perfect fit for Paul's style of drumming. As soon as we get into the studio and start tracking I will keep everyone updated on how things are going via the exodus message board…..my goal will be to give a daily studio report…..and before you know it maybe a few sound clips will be made available to hold you over until the September release… -Gary Holt |
