HEAVY METAL TITANS JUDAS PRIEST ANNOUNCE 7 DATE ‘PRIEST FEAST’ ARENA TOUR

IN FEBRUARY 2009
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS MEGADETH AND TESTAMENT

London, 1st October 2008 – One of the worlds most popular and influential Heavy Metal bands – Judas Priest are set to rock the UK to it’s very core when they bring their ‘Priest Feast’ tour to play 7 arena dates in February 2009 with support from special guests – Thrash Metal veterans Megadeth and Testament.


Since 1974, Judas Priest has been one of heavy metal’s most successful bands, issuing such all-time classic albums as 1980’s ‘British Steel,’ 1982’s ‘Screaming for Vengeance,’ and 1990’s ‘Painkiller,’ and such arena-rocking anthems as “Breaking the Law,” “Living After Midnight,” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.” However, Priest’s influence goes far beyond their music - they were the first metal band to embrace the ‘leather biker look,’ a fashion that has since become synonymous with the musical genre. Additionally, Halford’s powerful four-and-a-half octave vocal range and the twin guitar harmonies of Downing and Tipton have been ‘studied’ by countless metal bands in Priest’s wake.


Think ‘Double vinyl, gatefold sleeve concept album,’ and some of rock’s all-time classic recordings come to mind. But in the realm of heavy metal, there has never been a double vinyl (now disc!) concept album that has managed to balance a thought-provoking storyline with metallic thunder. That was, until now. Metal legends JUDAS PRIEST released their sprawling double disc concept album, ‘Nostradamus’ via Columbia Records on Monday, June 16th in the UK/Europe, and a day later in the US on Epic Records.


MEGADETH
As one of the most commercially successful heavy metal bands of all time, Megadeth have sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, including six consecutive platinum albums, with seven consecutive Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance. Megadeth has remained a vital element in continuing to define and redefine the sound and the fury of metal music and with each new album, forges new ground and stretches the very boundaries where metal lives.


TESTAMENT
Testament was one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980's. Undoubtedly, they are the inventors of the thrash-metal wheel. Testament’s powerful sound, influence, and longevity make them one of the Top 5 All-Time Legendary Thrash Metal Bands, putting them in the company of Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, and Anthrax. They re-formed with the original line up (vocalist ChuckBilly, guitarists Eric Peterson & Alex Skolnick, and bassist Greg Christian – along with friend and former member, Paul Bostaph) to record their 9th studio album - their first in nearly a decade entitled ‘Formation of Damnation’ (released April this year) which also won them ‘Best Album’ at the Metal Hammer ‘Golden Gods’ Awards this summer.

In his review of the concert, David Lindquist of IndyStar.com writes, "Sporting tattoos on each side of his head and a studded denim vest over a leather jacket, [Rob] Halford pronounced the evening as the 'world premiere of 'British Steel' live.' The show served as an amped-up dress rehearsal for PRIEST's summer tour, which begins Wednesday in a Missouri basketball arena with WHITESNAKE on board as the opening act.

"Monday's performance began at 7:50 p.m., and a relieved Halford said, 'We made it,' when the nine songs of 'British Steel' concluded 40 minutes later.

"The novelty then shifted from one landmark album to one cozy venue. In the context of the 2,400-capacity Murat, audience members saw old-school green lasers bounce around the room, the evolution of Halford's costume changes and occasional moments when bass player Ian Hill appeared to be winded."

JUDAS PRIEST: Japanese Edition Of 'A Touch of Evil: Live' To Include Bonus Tracks - June 30, 2009

British heavy metal leegnds JUDAS PRIEST have chosen 10 songs not previously released in live album form for "A Touch of Evil: Live", which is due out July 14, in the midst of the band's U.S. summer tour. According to HMV.co.jp, the CD will be available in Japan on July 22 and will include two bonus tracks: "Worth Fighting For" and "Deal With The Devil".

"A Touch of Evil" includes live renderings of longtime fan favorites such as "Painkiller", "Dissident Aggressor", "Riding on the Wind", "Between the Hammer & the Anvil" and "Eat Me Alive", as well as "Hellrider" from "Angel of Retribution", the group's 2004 reunion album with frontman Rob Halford, and two tracks — "Death" and "Prophecy" — from last year's rock opera "Nostradamus".

"I love those songs," Halford told Billboard.com. "All of those songs just crush. Because they've never been recorded live in this way, it's just something fresh to put out. And when you listen to it and think this band has been around for three decades, with a combined age of 250-something years...I mean, how cool is that? It's a very fierce record and just captures the band's attitude and feeling in a very strong, determined way."

Recorded by Martin Walker and Brian Thorene during JUDAS PRIEST's mammoth 2005 and 2008 world tours, "A Touch Of Evil: Live" marks the first PRIEST album that producer Tom Allom has worked on since 1988 (co-producing along with the band). It was such Allom-produced albums as the aforementioned "Unleashed In The East", as well as "British Steel" and "Screaming For Vengeance" (among others) that made PRIEST not only one of the premier metal acts, but one of the leading global rock acts.

Erg gaaf, alle klassiekertjes, maar ik zou het persoonlijk ook wel leuk vinden om eens een nummertje van bijvoorbeeld Jugulator langs te zien komen op een Judas Priest setlist.

Yep hij zat wel heel erg in de rol van de oude Nostradamus
Hopelijk was dat iets te goed geacteerd, want met deze nieuwe tour kan dat natuurlijk niet meer.

Inderdaad een saai nummer, het staat misschien net iets boven de nummers die op Rocka Rolla staan.
Schijnbaar vinden ze hetzelf te leuk om te spelen, verrassingen in de setlist maken een concert extra interessant, het enige respect dat ik nog voor Metallica heb.

Die tracklist van de tour is echt matig. Ik ben al geen fan van British Steel, maar die paar extra nummers zijn ook niet de moeite waard. Van mij zouden ze wel heel Rocka Rolla mogen spelen.
