Het zat eraan te komen, jammer genoeg kan er niet geracet worden als de tabaksreclame verboden wordt. Spa was toch één van mijn favoriete circuits, en erg gezellig om naartoe te gaan tijdens het F1-circus.

Volgens mij is dat nog niet zeker. Minardi heeft het financieel nog niet helemaal voor elkaar.

ja idd, afgelopen seizoen was kei saai, niet alleen omdat verstappen niet mee deed maar ik merkte wel dat ik er toch op een andere maniet naar keek

vanaf volgen seizoen is het als volgt!

10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1

punten 1 t/m 7 krijgt dan dus punten en het verschil tussen 1 en 2 aanzienlijk kleiner.

Klopt niet helemaal wat je hier zegt.

Vanaf 2003 zijn er voor de eerste 8 (en niet 7) rijders punten te verdienen.

The Belgian Grand Prix, which was controversially axed from the 2003 Formula One calendar, was on Tuesday given fresh hope that it could be reprieved.

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said that if an agreement could be reached over the thorny issue of tobacco advertising, then the race at Spa, which is widely cherished by drivers and fans alike, could still be saved.

"The FIA and the teams hope that measures can be enacted in Belgium which will allow the event to comply with the proposed world-wide ban on tobacco sponsorship scheduled to come into effect at the end of 2006," said a FIA statement. "It could then be considered for inclusion in the 2004 World Championship."

The race was officially scrapped from next season's schedule on Monday as a result of the Belgian government refusing to grant an exemption from new advertising laws and F1 teams were unable to reach a unanimous agreement on whether or not to race under the restrictions.

However, some figures in Belgium were still clinging to hopes that the race will eventually be brought back. "Our Grand Prix wasn't on the 2003 calendar and the final decision will not be taken until December," said Serge Kubla, the Walloon economics minister. "This leaves us some hope, although it is slim, that the event can be saved."

However, those within the sport here fear the worst. "Without an express decision by Belgian politicians to allow an exemption to the law, I am afraid that the Belgian Grand Prix will never be staged again," said John Goossens, the president of the Belgian Royal Automobile Club who added that with China and Bahrain both granted dates in the championship in 2004, the race at Spa would be lost.

There were also fears over the financial cost for the region - an American study once revealed that the race brought in around 25 million euros for the local economy.

Meanwhile, the European Commission accused Formula One bosses of surrendering to the "tainted money" of tobacco in scrapping next year's Belgian Grand Prix. "What kind of signal is this to racing fans?" fumed health commissioner David Byrne. "Is the tainted money of big tobacco more important to the Formula One machine than the spirit of the sport and the dedication of its fans to one of the most exciting race tracks, which Spa-Francorchamps undoubtedly is?"

The European Commission has been pushing since May 2001 for a total ban on tobacco advertising at sporting events in EU member states. "This example of an unjustified sanction against Belgium because of its pioneering health protection initiative clearly shows that we need one single approach in the internal market as quickly as possible," Byrne added.

The Belgian GP, one of the favourite circuits among drivers, was won this season by five-time world champion Michael Schumacher - the German ace has won the event six times in his career and clinched his first ever GP win at the track.

"It is naturally sad that Spa has been removed from the championship as I have many fond memories of the circuit," said Schumacher.

Dat gekut altijd met de F1; races in China en moederneukende Bahrein.

D'r moet meer NASCAR op TV, en in de toekomst dan een paar races in Europa (Berlijn heeft al een aardige oval, vraag maar aan Alex Zanardi.....)

Dat vind ik nu juist wel weer leuk.

Rally wordt niet live uitgezonden. Meestal laat Eurosport slechts een korte samenvatting zien. Precies hetzelfde met de Nascar, daar trekken ze ook slechts een uurtje in de week voor uit.

Ik ben blij dat er in ieder geval nog iets live wordt uitgezonden. (F1 dan in dit geval)

Gaaf! Voor zondag is weer onweer voorspeld, als Verstappen dan net zoveel uit zijn Minardi kan persen als 2 jaar terug uit zijn Arrows dan belooft het weer een ouderwets gave race te worden!

Die weersomstandigheden zijn niet speciaal voor daar er staat bijna elke dag regen op het programma, meestal is het slechts van korte duur of het valt snachts.

doch een regenbuitje tijdens de Race is altijd mooi, jammer dat jos nog steeds geen goed bak heeft.
