Toch schreef Jarle net zo veel muziek voor Windir als Valfar dus ik ben niet zo bang voor de muzikale koers die Windir/Ulcus op gaat.

Sadly we have to inform you all that Terje ”Valfar” Bakken was found dead Saturday 17.1.2004.

Terje left his home Wednesday 14.01, when he did not return his family got worried and contacted the police. Saturday 17.01 our greatest fear was confirmed. Terje was found dead at Reppastølen in the Sogndal valley. It seemed as if Terje was on his way to the family cabin at Fagereggi. Due to the cold weather and deep snow the trip became much harder than Terje expected. When he realized that he would not be able to reach the cabin, he tried to make his way back down. Unfortunately he did not make it. Terje was found just above Reppastølen. Forensic evidence says that Terje died of hyperthermia. This tragic accident has made these times extremely difficult for his family, band members and friends.

Terje was buried at Stedje church Tuesday 27.01.

We hope you will respect his memory and let Terje’s closest mourn in peace.

A great man has passed away, but his music lives forever.

Haha,toen ik bezig was met posten stond het er nog niet...(of ik heb de site niet vernieuwd,zou ook kunnen hehe).

Helaas, Windir stopt ermee.
Ze brengen daarentegen nog wel nieuw materiaal uit via TABU recordings.

Hieronder de statement vanaf hun site:

The loss of our best friend and the founder of Windir have made these last months an extremely hard time. We have decided that Windir will not continue. Valfar created Windir, and we feel that Windir will not be Windir without him.

After encouragement from Valfar’s family, we have decided to release one last Windir CD. This will be a CD in honour of Valfar. It will be a 2 disc CD. The first CD will include new material, unreleased material, tribute songs from other bands and live tracks. The second CD will be a compilation of the great music made by Valfar. It will include tracks from the first demo Sognariket to the last album Likferd. Tabu Records will release the album in August/September 2004. We have decided that all income from this CD will go directly to Valfar’s family.

We also want to thank all friends, fans, bands, labels and magazines that have supported us in these difficult times. Information on future musical projects from Windir members will be announced later.

The music of Windir is still alive!

26.03.2004 Heidra Valfar - The farewell concert of Windir

Friday the 3rd of September there will be a last Windir concert. The concert will be at Rockefeller Arena in Oslo, Norway. The 3rd of September would have been Valfars 26th birthday, and we would like to honour his memory by doing one last show. Sture will be doing most of the Windir vocals. We are also glad to announce that 3 bands will be joining us this night. ENSLAVED, FINNTROLL & MINDGRINDER will be doing shows in honour of Valfar.

The 3rd of September will also be the release date of the last Windir album, out on Tabu recordings. Tickets can be purchased at www.billettservice.no from Saturday the 27th of March.

Is het mischien een goed idee om met een groepje ZMers gezamelijk een reisje hierheen te maken die erheen willen?Lekker gezellig, en eens kijken of we het op een zo goedkoop mogelijke manier kunnen regelen...

Ik was heel graag meegegaan maar ik spaar mijn geld op om komend jaar weer naar het Inferno festival te gaan,ook in de Rockefeller trouwens.
Ik ga in ieder geval eens informeren of ze het optreden gaan opnemen op een of andere manier.Zou uiteraard te gek zijn om dit optreden toch te kunnen zien/horen, ook al is maar vanaf cd/dvd.

Dat zou wel gaaf zijn, maar ook veel regelwerk.
Windir zou ik nog wel erg graag een keer willen zien.

Zoveel regelwerk is het echt niet.Heb vaak genoeg zulke uitstapjes naar Noorwegen gemaakt.Gewoon een vliegticket kopen en klaar is kees.

Heb ze gelukkig al twee keer gezien dus ik hoef niet mijn laatste geld uit te gaan geven om ze alsnog te kunnen zien.

Mensen hier die de show hebben gezien? En die ook al de nieuwe cd hebben gehoord?

Kreeg gisteren mail van Jarle, de show is opgenomen met 4 camera's en ze gaan nu kijken of er misschien een DVD gaat komen met het optreden. Dit is wat hij o.a. zei:

Hello Marcel.

...I can tell you that I was extremly satisfied with the show. An almost sold out venue(1200 people) made this an overwhelming night. I think the concert was a great thing, but I also feel a sadness that this was the last Windir show ever.

We taped the whole concert with 4 cameras, and we will decide over the next months if we want to release it on a DVD....

Verder komt hij in oktober naar Nederland voor een korte vakantie...hopelijk krijg ik dan alsnog het optreden te zien

Ik hoop dat hij uitkomt! Damn, had er echt graag bij willen zijn! Maarja, toch een beetje te ver.

Voor de geinteresseerden kan ik melden dat Jarle (bassist Windir) een nieuwe band heeft met de naam Vreid, de debuut cd heet "Kraft" en komt later dit jaar uit
