Nou, ik weet t wel zeker; er is maar 1 nummer met Slime in de titel.

[…] So Trey and I were alone again, without a bassist or a singer, and decided to start working together on the new album. Anyway it wasn’t the first time we did it, for it was also just the two of us when writing FFttF. Once we had the stuff for the new album ready, we decided that it was time to look for a bassist and singer, and first off we contacted David Vincent to ask him whether he wanted to join us for the new album. Initially he liked the idea, but we were trying it out for a month, more or less, and things didn’t work. He came and said that he wanted to change this or that in the songs, he said that some parts were too fast and that we had to make them be slower and things like that. As we didn’t agree to his changes he finally didn’t accept. After that, Trey decided to call Steve to see if he was willing to come back into the band, he agreed and we started to rehearse to record the album. As everything was working well we decided that we would stay like that and we would record “Heretic” with this line-up.

So it is true that David Vincent was about to come back to MA. To tell the truth there have been a lot of rumours about that, but I didn’t know to what extent I could believe them. So is it true that you asked him whether he wanted to come back with you?

Yeah, it’s true. What actually happened was that he came to talk to us, but seeing that we didn’t consent to some of his requests, he told us he didn’t want to come back to MA. It was then that we called Steve to enter the band, but a week later David contacted again our manager saying that he had reconsidered it and that he preferred to come back to MA. We already had Steve and everything was fine, so evidently told him that he couldn’t, that he was late. That’s why David is now somewhat angry with us. He plays now with Genitortures, his wife’s band, but at that time it seems he thought it was a good idea to come back to MA, but we had already come to a compromise with Steve and he was doing a great job. […]

[...] The drums have a slightly different sound now, I think they sound more real, in some of our previous records they sounded to me a bit mechanical. [...] For example, you can hear it in the drum solo I wrote for this album, "Drum Check". I also wrote some other stuff for Heteric. For example I composed "Striken Arise", the 6th track, almost entirely, a 90% more or less... For me it has an old school touch to it... It sounds like previous stuff... […]

Het nieuwe werk van Morbid Angel is geniaal. Daar kan toch niemand aan tippen? Eigenlijk vind ik alles van MA groots.
Alleen Domination valt wat uit de toon.

Ik heb de Thy Kingdom come single gekocht (die op Splattermaniac records) en het is zo underground dat het hoesje geen hoesje is maar een gekopieerde omslag; klopt dat of ben ik genaaid?

Vind ik niet, Heretic vind ik maar een matige DM plaat. Er staan een aantal goeie nummers op, maar het merendeel is niet interessant genoeg. Favorieten blijven nog steeds Covenant en Altars Of Madness

MORBID ANGEL guitarist Trey Azagthoth has revealed plans to collaborate with
THE GATHERING singer Anneke van Giersbergen on an as-yet-unnamed new
project. "I really hope and believe that this dream of mine will come true
some day," he told Finland's Sonera Plaza. "I'd really like to hear what
kind of [end result we could come up with] when my playing and her beautiful
singing [are meshed together]. I'm sure we could even create a totally new
style of music... but let's see if our schedules coincide and we can find
some time [to work on some material together]."

In other MORBID ANGEL-related news, the group's drummer Pete Sandoval has
told Sonera Plaza that he hopes to enter the studio later in the year to
record the long-awaited new TERRORIZER album. "I know that there has been
rumors over the years [about the band recording the follow-up to 1989's
'World Downfall'] but this time it's really going to happen, I'm going to
force the other guys into the studio with me if I have to]! On the album,
there's going to be me, Oscar Garcia [vocals] and Jesse Pintado [guitar,
NAPALM DEATH, LOCKUP].

With regards to the musical direction of the new TERRORIZER album, Sandoval
said, "It's gonna be like the first TERRORIZER album... I mean, the sound of
the album is going to be about the same. Maybe I'll play a little bit faster
though..."

On the subject of other possible side projects, Pete said, "I really love
classical music and composers like Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart. I have
written some music on piano and keyboards over the years and I hope to one
day release an album which will contain only drums and piano. And maybe a
female singer could sing on some of the songs as well.

"I am also going to release an instructional video for young drummers,"
Sandoval added. "I am going to sell it via the Internet. So many people have
come up to me and asked me, 'How do you play such and such song?' and I
can't explain it in words, I have to show them how I play! So I am going to
play, for example, some MORBID ANGEL songs for that video. I will start by
playing slow and then I will gradually get faster until I am finally playing
the song at full speed. I really want people to see how I play these songs
like 'Bil Ur-Sag'."

Laat ik het anders zo zeggen, ik werd compleet omver geblazen door de uitstraling van die song (en van de band natuurlijk). Uhu, morgen even 'Gateways....' kopen.

Hey trouwens, ik heb Gateways... zelf ook nog niet, ik leen hem altijd uit de collectie van mijn huisgenoot. Ik vind het meer een cd van geniale momenten ipv een cd die gewoon helemaal geweldig is, zoals A t/m C.
