Noors krantenbericht van 5 februari aangaande de rechtzaak van Gaahl:

The vocalist in Gorgoroth is found guilty for what the police characterize as “extremely vile” use of violence. In April the vocalist again has to answer to court for his act of violence, this time the sentence can be nine years in prison.
The prosecutors consider the vocalist as potential dangerous. State attorney Yngve J. Andersen was evaluating to demand the vocalist kept secured from public, until the court trial is up for tribunal in April.
-The foundation is that he is earlier convicted for several vile acts of violence, and there are chances for repeating. But I don’t know the concrete reason for the state attorney to demand him kept secured from public, says the prosecutor for the coming trial against the Gorgoroth vocalist, police attorney Terje Gjertsen.
According to Gjertsen, the vocalist is still under observation until the court trial. As vocalist, lyric writer and front figure for Gorgoroth he use the pseudo Gaahl. Gaahl is from outside Bergen (Sunnfjord), and still got his personal address there.

Demand compensation for the damage
It was night till 23. February 2002 that the Gorgoroth vocalist shall have punched and kicked a man, around his 40s, repeatedly in the head and the face, which resulted in, according to the prosecution, the victim getting cuts and had to get stitches in the head, nose and mouth. Additional the man also got damage to the teeth and broke the nose bone. The act of violence shall have happened on an after party at the vocalist place. At that time Gaahl already was convicted 3 times, because of his use of violence.

The victim in this case was sent to hospital and got longterm injuries.
- After two years is my client still under medical treatment for the damages, says the victim’s lawyer, Robert Fonn. – We will demand at least 100.000 NOK in compensation, but it will be up to the court to decide the final sum.

Postponed twice
The trial has been postponed twice, and Fonn hope for his client sake, that this time there will be a final sentence. Until now, Gaahl`s hardest court sentence, is one year in prison. Gaahl got that sentence after an act of violence where he supposedly had abused the victim for hours. Gaahl was then also sentenced to pay the victim 158.000 NOK in compensation.

In the mentioned sentence, from 2001, the court says that the violence was “unordinary vile and brutal, and had a reach that made the act without any rational motive”.
-Damage to the body usually results in 90 days prison. Here he got 12 months additional to a vast compensation, which show how extreme the violence was, says police attorney Terje Gjertsen, who has prosecuted in trials against Gaahl in the past.

Satanic symbols in the court
Last time the Gorgoroth vocalist met in court, he was dressed in black clothes and wearing satanic symbols. Because of previous violence convictions, does the prosecution against Gaahl this time got a penalty frame on 9 years prison. Ordinary penalty frame for such crime are 6 years in prison. Gaahl`s lawyer Christian Eckhoff, says to BT that his client does not agree with the content in the current prosecution.

- He will question the way his actions is displayed in the prosecution, says the lawyer, who wouldn’t comment the case any further.
Gorgoroth was founded in 1992 by people around Bergen (utter Sogn and Sunnfjord), and has their base in Bergen, the band has had allot of changes in the line-up. Vocalist Gaahl joined the band in 1998. Gaahl is also part of 3 different music projects in the same genre. Both him and Gorgoroth are recon as well-known within the Black Metal genre, and have toured both Europe and America.

Ik ga Gorgoroth steeds meer waarderen...

Ik heb me wel te pletter gelachen met die laatste klacht tegen Gorgoroth omdat ze allerlei ' onheuse' dingen ( bloed overal!mensen aan het kruis! )zouden gedaan hebben tijdens een concert in Polen (is nl.het geboorteland van the liar on the altar,zo zal ik 'm maar noemen). Als ze daarover al beginnen te mekkeren, moet alle muziek volgens die moraalriddertjes geband worden.Tjonge

Tja, sommige nummers vind ik wel aardig maar andere vind ik weer nergens op slaan. Ik heb nogal gemengde gevoelens over deze band.

Ok meneer "ben satanist en luister bijna altijd naar black/death metal", ten eerste zijn hier nog wel veel mensen die een hekel hebben aan mensen die niet goed Nederlands praten, dus 3 keer raden wat ga ik zeggen...?

En dan? Als je vernieuwing/originaliteit zoekt in black metal...

Ze hebben gewoon wereld platen gemaakt zoals Pentagram en Antichrist en de rest mag er ook best wezen. Orginaliteit is niet belangrijk, goeie nummers wel!

Gorgoroth - New Drummer Is Frost


From the official Gorgoroth website:

Kvitrafn leaves... new drummer is Frost!

Kvitrafn has decided to leave Gorgoroth of personal reasons. Good news is that Frost (1349, Satyricon) has agreed to be the new drummer. He will start working together with Gorgoroth in the beginning of May, when the band starts an intensive rehearsing period with main focus on a new recording. This means that there will be less or no live activity in the following months...

Cooperation with Nuclear Blast ended

Gorgoroth are relieved to inform that their cooperation with the German label Nuclear Blast is now ended. They have already received a good offer from another label, but nothing is signed yet. Check back later for more news about this matter.

Eigenlijk hoef ik Frost niet bij al die bands te zien. Hij is goed, maar ik had toch liever gezien dat Kvitrafn was gebleven (die zat toch bij Det Hedenske Folk?)

Ik heb nu Under the sign of Hell voor de zoveelste keer opstaan. Wereldplaat.
Ik ben benieuwd naar het nieuwe werk want ik vind het laatste werk van hun toch een beetje tegenvallen in vergelijking met de eerste drie cd's.

Antichrist is wel aardig maar tegelijkertijd ook weer zo standaard...

Zoals sommigen misschien weten moest zanger Gaahl eind vorige maand voor de rechter verschijnen ivm. een geweld-delict.
Volgens het Gorgoroth-forum is hij nu daarvoor veroordeeld tot 18 maanden effectief.

In addition, he was ordered to pay 158,000 NOK (approximately $23,000) in punitive damages. "Two people have had their lives irreparably shattered by the defendant's actions," the court said in the written sentence.

Gaahl, who appeared in court wearing a black GORGOROTH t-shirt, a leather jacket and a Thor's Hammer necklace (Photo#1, Photo#2, Photo#3, Photo#4), was accused of performing ritual violence that included collecting blood from his victim and drinking it. The victim, whose identity hasn't been revealed, was hit and kicked several times in the face and head and needed stitches to close cuts in his head. His nose was broken and he suffered major dental damage.

Formed in 1992, GORGOROTH took their name from J.R.R. Tolkien's book "The Lord Of The Rings". Gaahl, who joined the band in 1998, is believed to be involved with at least three other projects (GAAHLSKAGG, SIGFADER, TRELLDOM), all of which feature a musical direction described as "raw, unsophisticated black metal."

GORGOROTH drew international attention in early February after they were accused of "offending religious feelings" during a concert in Poland. The band were also suspected of breaching the Polish law on protection of animals by displaying the severed and impaled heads of sheep as part of their stage act.

09.11.2004 - Riots in El Salvador
Gorgoroth made the headlines in the major papers in Latin America after performing a show which created big riots in San Salvador. The audience got so extatic over the presence of the first black metal act visiting their country that the situation got totally out of control. The secutity and the police could not handle the people outside the venue so they had to call in the special forces "del cuerpo de Proteccion a Personalides Importantes" (PPI). When the PPI reached the venue the masses of people not getting a ticket for the already sold out show kicked in the entrancedoor and lots of fighting between the audience began. The audience started to kick in doors and toilets, several injuries occured and major damages to the venue. The PPI decided in the end to use gas on the audience to get the situation under control. When Gorgoroth entered the stage 30 security people had to be on stage preventing the audience to enter it. The fighting maintained through Gorgoroths performance and the PPI and the police had to hold the audience inside the venue with firearms to get the band in safety. Gorgoroth came from the incident without any injuries.
