DAVE MUSTAINE On MEGADETH's Touring Lineup: 'These Guys Really Want To Be Here' - Oct. 29, 2004

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine recently spoke to the Arizona Daily Star about the group's current touring lineup, which includes drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Glen Drover from EIDOLON; and bass player James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH).

This new group was thrown together after squabbles with previous band members — including original bassist David Ellefson — led Mustaine to clean house.

"I have some great players on tour with me right now," he said. "I've had numerous incarnations of the group, and I think right now there's probably as much excitement and vim and vigor in the group as there has ever been. It's unlike anything I've done for a very long time because these guys really want to be here. It's not about 'what can I get out if it'; it's 'what can I bring.' "

Mustaine said the tour, which started Oct. 23 in Reno, will be the band's last.

"This is definitely it," he said. "Unless some freak accident happens and some of the old guys get hit in the head with meteors and their thinking changes, this tour is going to go around the world one last time to perform a farewell tour for MEGADETH's farewell record."


Megadeth gaat dus na de tour definitief opgedoekt worden.

Misschien is het niet eens zo heel erg als je je bedenkt dat de 'toptijd' achter de rug is en het gewoon nooit meer kan worden zoals het was omdat het simpelweg al gedaan is. Het is (denk ik) een troost dat het laatste album nog een vrij goeie is en dat de band (voor zover je daar nog van kan spreken)niet 'doodbloed' zoals velen daarvoor hebben gedaan, of aan het doen zijn (zie Metallica bijv.).

De enigste reden dat the system has failed een megadeth album is geworden, is omdat mustaine nog een contractuele verplichting had.
Hij wil dus solo albums gaan uitbrengen en als hij dat op dezelfde wijze doet als het laatse megadeth album hoor je mij niet klagen.

Zou mij ook niks verbazen..en zelfs als hij contractueel geen verplichtingen heeft, zou het waarschijnlijk ook slim zijn eerst nog wat onder de naam Megadeth uit te brengen. Levert waarschijnlijk meer publiciteit op dan een solo album, wat na die "pauze" wel nodig is..

Als hij nu over een half jaar of zo met solocd of nieuwe band komt is het iig niet zo lang geleden dat hij in the picture was.

oud nieuws trouwens , krijgt dave niet genoeg aandacht ofzo.
voor iemand die niks meer met metallica te maken wil hebben maakt hij zich nogal eigenaardig druk om HELEMAAL NIKS

iemand moet zich er toch druk over maken, ik denk dat dave mustaine de aangewezen persoon daarvoor is...

... sommige dingen of mensen moeten gewoon niet met rust gelaten worden

Okee, eigenlijk zouden we nu even moeten checken of die Sandman riff ook daadwerkelijk op een Excel plaat staat. Heeft iemand hier Split Image? Volgens mij moet dat nummer op die plaats staan. En anders op The Joke's On You (Excel was trouwens een te gekken band, echte crossover a la DRI).

Tering man, het einde van MegadetH . echt zonde. Maar ze gaan in ieder geval wel eervol ten onder, het laatste schijfje van ze is wel een super album .

Dan maar wachten hoe Dave het solo gaat doen. Als hij dat net zo goed doet als bij MegadetH ben ik wel tevreden .

Want hij blijft gewoon heerschen .

METALLICA Threatened With Copyright Infringement Lawsuit - Nov. 22, 2003

Metallian.com is reporting that the members of the defunct punk/metal fusion band EXCEL are considering legal action against METALLICA over the latter's song "Enter Sandman" (Windows Media, Real Audio), which they claim borrows heavily from the EXCEL track "Tapping Into The Emotional Void" (Windows Media, Real Audio).

"Tapping Into The Emotional Void" was originally included on EXCEL's "The Joke's On You" LP, which surfaced in 1989 — two years prior to the release of METALLICA's self-titled CD.

"Enter Sandman" currently stands as the biggest hit of METALLICA's career, having peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in August 1991. METALLICA's self-titled "black album" has sold more than 13 million copies in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
